@southshorepirate: the main issue with the criteria is the absence of 'originality' as a defining factor. If you are riding a second hand line/feature you should get marked down. its a freeride event so isnt originality a thing to aspire to? It would level the playing field between those riders doing a second year line (therefore being able to bigger/burlier) and those having to start new.

@LemonadeMoney: not everyone lives near big mountains. my local hill is max 200m above sea level. we dont need a massive battery. or loads of travel. a motor for extra laps is the way forward though.

`I would rather have a pretty free draining shoe for wet rides.` This - absolutely. I`ve just got some Etnies Semenuks that are fairly waterproof and they took 2 days to dry as the lasts get so soaked as teh water cant escape. you just get that squelchy feel everytime you pedal or walk which is horrible. normal freeriders doi the same but also end up weighing 2kgs. my spec 2f0 clips are the best as they have less water absorbant padding and dont hold water.

on the Forestal is there any way for mud and stones to escape from the gap between teh linkage/swingarm and the frame? all i can see is a perfect pocket for a stone and mud to chomp/grind its way through that lovely shiney carbon.

Photo Epic: Recreating Magic in the Desert - Red Bull Rampage 2021

Its such a shame there are so many existing lines (but appreciate the issues in getting new venues!). It takes the creativity out of the competition. I hope there is a point deduction for using an existing line based on the % of the line re-used. some people (zink/strait/sorge) only really need to dress a few lips and away they go. not really fair on the newcomers or those looking to be more creative.
