So it's a competition for the biggest Whistler park rat? I don't understand... the only people who can win this comp have been there dozens of times. What about those that have never been there and would love to win a chance to go? Who's the genius behind this ass-backwards competition?

You're going to give a season pass to someone who's never been there? They're giving back to people who actually support them by going to the park. Whoever wins this is going to make the most of it

This is like buying an advertisement during the superbowl to promote a free turkey raffle at your local grocery store. Millions of viewers and only 25 people can participate.

Doesn't really seem that off to me. I've never been to Whistler, I live in Michigan and wouldn't get to use my "season pass" for longer than a week before having to return home and to work. One thing you may be missing is that Pinkbike has sometimes run other competitions and prizes that aren't open to our EU brethren. I think having stipulations to a prize makes the winner that much more stoked and often the prizes that much more grand.

@mbisset: yea it seems on to me. If I got a season pass I would use it a whole 5 times and then it would be a waste. Its still fun regardless to see where you rank

@NYShred - I was thinking the exact same thing. How about approaching a new demographic that previously hasn't considered what Whistler Blackcomb has to offer and offering them a season's worth of experiences to draw in other new visitors.

@cwatt: who said they dont already have that in the works? This is only one of probably a ton of contests they will do

The Marketing Strategy is that you're rewarding people who already go there, encouraging pass renewal ($$). Typically big organizations (like Whistler) incorporate several strategies and audiences. This is just one of several marketing efforts. Also, you're a twat.

F***ing Vail Company Worst corporation along with Comcast .

Hey this bike park looks pretty neat. Is it new?
  • 14 2
So, I guess they're rewarding their most loyal customer, which is a good thing, just... not for me.

To people complaining: several million people live close enough to wbp to make full use of a season pass going only on weekends. Add in the vacationers (especially aussies!) who come stay for a month at a time, and there's quite a pool of people who could win it.

This would be the one comp I win. Given I am unlikely to go there.

I don't like the new owners.

I got 2/10, and nostalgia from looking at the pics.

Yah, F@ck them. The triple play was the cats ass. Now I can only afford to go twice a year because I definitely can't afford or get time to go 5.

The past 10 years of riding there and all I remember is the smile on my face and the good times!

Had a question for those who've been there while the crankworx festival : Is it possible to ride as usual on that week? I'd like to plan a trip to whistler this summer and the only week I'm available is that week..!
  • 2 0
Yes you can ride about 90% of the mountain, there will be closures, just plan around them, and i would argue, that its not that busy during CW.

So remy is gonna be the winner lol.

They must have a ton load of snow to clear before it opens!

 Isnt whistler a ski resort?
  • 5 1
In fact it is. But during the warmer months all the skiers bring their bikes for some reason. I hear it happens at many other ski resorts too, someone should put an end to it.

I know...it's town run trail park in Indianapolis Indiana. Sorry I ruined the contest for everyone.
