I'm not just saying this because I'm British. But I feel we always seem to be best at capturing my favourite side of mountain biking which is being silly and generally just "f*cking about".
Rarely serious and just having fun with whatever location and conditions we're dealt.

a culture that brings forth things like Caterham, sausage-breakfast or Douglas Adams is ace in my book.

You are right! You guys make us want to ride in the shittiest weather, on the 'lamest' trails, just because you can have a laugh and fuck about any time you go out! I'm trying to spread this vibe here because people are just too serious about their riding, gear, bikes... just go out smash some corners, jump and have fun!

it replays not only to mountain biking, life as well! keep it up!

What is British is that he may not appear serious, yet at the same time present a whole lot of massive skill. A bit like Monty Pyton or even Danny MacAskill. Or let me put it like this, the British use their skill to create something fun. Olly Wilkins is my favourite rider and I think he is more well rounded than people realize. My favourite video of his is probably his "sound of speed" edit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJgeBFwkW9Y

I agree and the Brits rip

Agree 100% you guys have it figured out.

@eiiic: not all of us lol
  • 2 0
Oh I definitely agree there mate, take Slice of British Pie for example, absolutely nothing serious in there haha. Brit's are great at mucking around and not taking things seriously.

@Nathan6209: nope, nothing figured out here

Couldn't climb back up it in just ten seconds, could we, Olly?

Damn, trash talk from a f*cking bike company...

@YoungGun13: mostly banter. Olly is great!

@SCOTT-Sports: Agreed, he's great to watch. Not totally sure why I was downvoted to oblivion, that was meant to be a touch sarcastic...

The whole UK is 10 second descents. If it wasn't fun we wouldn't be here.

Somebody hasn't left the South East...
  • 30 1
You're spot on there. You can up it to 12 seconds when you do.
  • 2 1
@sideshowb: I've never been to the south east
  • 4 1
@Tom00Harrison: You're not missing much Wink
  • 14 1
@sideshowb: I disagree dude. There's more to riding than the size of the hills. Most countries have bigger mountains than the UK - but the scene in the UK and specifically the south east is phenomenal. A place with not even one mountain has produced Brendan Fairclough, Sam Reynolds, Bernard Kerr, Olly Wilkins and numerous other pros. And not only that but there's a huge scene of kids riding in the Surrey Hills bringing a new generation through. There's definitely better riding to be had in Wales and in the North - but we're going pretty well with what we've got in the South Jailbreak

 Haha Love the humor

@tom666: agreed. There are some good bikeparks in the south-east. Aston hill, Chicksands, Tidworth to name 3.
  • 1 0
@tom666: Yeah fair play that comment of mine was slightly tongue in cheek. What usually generates good trails is a thriving local scene so I imagine with so many of you down there, there must be some awesome runs about, even if they're not as long as natural lines in the Lakes for example.

If think the average time surfers spend actually surfing a wave is between 5 and 10 secs, so a short trail can be a blast, no doubt. Quantity is overrated.

 Excellent point.

10s laps are good to work on specifics and details for sure. i have a version of this wrapping around our home in the city. was clay, but concreted it in when the details were set. great to walk out the door and into the saddle for some quick laps to keep things on point. a few different line variations available including a corner hip to boulder landing, different gaps, manual spots, etc and can be run in both directions! good fun and collecting a pack of little rippers around the neighborhood too:

On the topic of having fun on supposedly “shitty” trails.. Anyone know if there’s a third Slice of British Pie film coming out?
  • 1 0
Yes they’ve just finished filming it now according to Tom Caldwell’s instagram.
  • 1 0
Shitty?? Where I live this kind of trail would be a godsent.

I noticed Ollie said he was lost at the end of the video. Turns out he doesn't know his way round Swindon as well as he thought.

I have a phew of those near by and I just love them ,they are good to goofing around ,but at the same time they give you that little control that sometimes you need on several trails.

the bloke just need to wear a full face lid to cover his "ride face" and tongue hanging all aver the place..but he is f*cking good

The only Downhill track we have around Copenhagen is a 10" trail,

 And roundabouts
  • 1 0
@jamesdippy: Oh yeah, the roundabouts, how could I have forgotten about those bastard things.
  • 1 0
@tomsk123: move to a country where every roundabout is replaced with a traffic light and you will eat your words, trust me! Roundabouts are a god send!
  • 1 0
@jaame: not when they put traffic lights on roundabouts!
  • 1 0
 @jamesdippy: true that!

Swindon! think Olly needs a new sat nav!

Damn ! what rear hub is he rolling ??
  • 1 0
I think it's because when they edited the video they turned the volume WAY up to like %400. Notice the abnormally loud sounds the tire is making on the dirt? Yah

Short but sweet! But damn does he have his seatpost super high!
