On July 16 Windrock Bike Park will host a day of open format downhill racing leading up to the Mountain Bike National Championships in Snowshoe, WV. Racers will have four hours to log as many timed runs as they want, on a marked race course in the bike park. The race will be professionally run, but with a laid back feel.

bigquotesThis format will look like the timed practice sessions we have at the World Cup. I think riders will be able to get a lot of it leading into the national champs.Neko Mulally, Race Organizer

Friday and Saturday the course will be marked and open for riders with a bike park pass. Sunday the timed session will kick off at noon and run until 4pm.

Categories will be kept simple with Women, Pro, Amateur, Vet (35+) and Grom (14-)

Entree fee is $60 for Sunday, pass included. On-site registration only.

Should offer a $50 gift card to Sizzler for whoever puts down the most laps. Encourage riders to beat down and erode the trail to simulate how tracks change.

That's a lot of steak and all you can eat shrimp!

I like this new format, mechanical problems and flats are minimized. The riders also are not as likely to be affected by bad weather showing up at the end of the day when the fastest qualifiers typically do their runs.
