I think Pinkbike doesn't understand riding in 90% of the American West. Besides ski resort bike parks and some bigger trails in places like Moab, most of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana are more fun on a true cross country bike. I ride almost everything on an epic evo and have fun exploring on 20-50mile adventure rides. Having a bike that weighs 25lbs, climbs well, and descends well enough makes the whole adventure much more fun. I am not too sad if I have to walk around that ONE rock that requires 160+ travel. Further, almost all of the races in the west are xc style. I think the PNW influence is a little too strong in the industry. I am fine with 65-67 degree head tube angles but have you ever tried popping up switchbacks on anything slacker? Not all trails in the west were purpose built. XC bikes pop up hiking trails much better than enduro slugs. I think the PNW crowd is pushing the bike industry into strange territories with "trail bikes." However, I am happy that cross bikes like the element, spur, epic evo, etc. are now perfect bikes for most trails.

Review: Five Ten Trailcross XT Shoes
I wore an earlier version of these when I crossed Iceland on a mountain bike. Great hike-a-bike shoes!

Beautiful writing. A nice mixture of craft, art, authenticity, and some basic fucking human emotion. loved it.

Red Bull Releases Statement on a Women's Category at Rampage
@fabwizard: I live and grew up in the most conservative county of the most conservative state in the US. (Look up Wyoming...it's in my name). No Participation medals here. Further, that is a totally different topic. However, I wouldn't expect an inference nor a coherent thought from a boy who doesn't know the different between "their" and "there." The solution is simple: same event, two categories--male and female. No exclusion of men. It's not like having females in any other sport kicks men out. Don't try to change the topic with your political catch phrases like "participation medals." That kind of crap might work with internet trolls but doesn't work with people who can construct coherent sentences.

Red Bull Releases Statement on a Women's Category at Rampage
Sad to see that Pinkbike is just like the rest of the internet...a place for intolerant, sexist arseholes. If women want to ride, let them ride. All of these comments sounds like the men in the 1960's who used "science" to claim that women couldn't run marathons. A woman just ran a marathon in 2:11, faster than 99.9 % of men can. I bet the women who are daring enough to ride Rampage can ride better than 99.9% of us. You Pinkbikers are getting pathetic. Go wank off to Fox news instead.
