I might like Neko’s fade from blue-to-red slightly better than Gwinn’s red-to-blue but Angel’s bike Is the clear winner in my eyes. All 3 are looking great and happy to see the ‘Merica! f**k yeah! at a reasonable level.

From the perspective of the American theme, I'm not digging the purple. But it terms of overall artistic aesthetics, it all looks killer.
  • + 4
@TheR: I was going to say the same thing. I like the paint job, but don’t love the purple. I get that red+blue=purple but the colors are red, white, and blue. There is no purple.
  • + 7
@TheR: to each his own, I suppose. I love the purple.

 yay fascism! i mean nationalism.

@sino428:
  • + 1
@rookie100: Fascism? Because I think that if you are going to do an American flag theme that it should only include the actual colors of the flag?
  • + 2
 @sino428: oh...I don't know. What about:

"Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For PURPLE mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!"
  • + 8
@sino428: I think the artist and the riders are using purple as a metaphor. They're showing the world, or indeed the USA at least, is not red OR blue but the colours in between. You don't have to sit one side of the fence but can sympathise or have leanings for the other side. You are right, purple isn't in the American flag, but stick it in the blender and you have a purpley pink colour- also known as the USA.

Errr, I meant cool paint job.
  • + 0
@dubod22: yeah, I don’t think they were going for that metaphor at all. Whatsoever. I mean, not even remotely
  • + 0
@AaGro: what about it? These are lyrics to one song someone wrote about America, and they are describing how things look, ‘purple’ mountains and ‘amber’ waves of grain. That doesn’t make it part of the National colors.

I personally couldn’t care less if these guys ride these jacked up patriotic theme bikes or just their regular colors schemes for world champs. But to me if they are going to do patriot things like a flag theme, then it should respect those colors and represent it properly.

A raging debate about the morality of a dash of purple on a USA-themed bike. Definitive proof that the Pinkbike community will find a way to get their undies in a bunch about literally anything. I’m equal parts delighted and horrified!
  • + 1
@sino428: wow...that was meant to be toungue in cheek. I was personally hoping to see an American’s bike done in American flag “thin blue line” livery. Just because it would look sick. Thought it was going to be Shaw but nope. Can’t be annoyed by creativity or purple. Nobody is faithfully recreating the flag on the whole bike...

I call b&w flag with a thin blue stripe on somebody’s bike for next year.
  • + 1
@BiNARYBiKE: Yeah, man. S#$T. I didn't mean to start a raging debate. All I was saying is that in terms of the America theme, they missed the mark by adding purple. I'm not outraged by it, or offended by it. I just wouldn't have gone in that direction. In terms of overall paint job -- man, it's hard to beat. Killer.
  • + 0
@AaGro: If you were joking then I apologize. Hard to gauge that in posts. Its not really a big deal, I personally just don't like the idea of taking artistic liberty when it comes to patriotic themes for any country. To me if you go that route, stick to the proper colors.

 Ah, there's that TRP derailleur...
  • + 2
 ima have that!
  • + 16
Love to see a spanish name on such a beauty!
  • + 14
ah yes. purple, the american national colour.
  • + 72
I thought it was orange nowadays?
  • + 7
Just artistic interpretation. Angel's has silver in it (My favorite of the three) and Spain's flag is primarily yellow and red. Eddie Master's is urban camo, Tahnee is blood spattered. All good.
  • + 18
@bman33: Excuse, me but I'm pretty sure that Tahnee's bike is splattered in UNICORN blood. Don't undersell it.
  • + 2
 @zsandstrom: Touche sir! Big Grin
  • + 1
@bman33: i agree, angels bike is gorgeous, would have liked to see more of that sweet candy apple red on tahnee's bike.
  • + 0
 @RichardJBos: Oranje Boven!
  • + 9
I doubt the intention was so heady, but I had a thought on this. With the US more partisan and divided than any time I can remember, I think it's nice to show the "purple" side of the country where reasonable people can disagree and land somewhere in the middle of the politics spectrum without pigeonholing themselves into one far side or the other.

...but it is just a paint job on a bike.
  • + 1
@zsandstrom: totally unicorn blood, with the crazy amount of flake and sparkle. That was my favorite of the other World's gallery.
  • + 4
Purple is symbolic of bravery in the US Military. Also it has much historical significance within Christianity.
  • + 1
@Y12Sentinel: Great points. However, we are missing a key one....Prince! If Prince was a downhiller, what bike would he ride? A puple.....( ) Big Grin
  • + 7
@bman33: The Glory is Giant's DH bike, so Prince would be enduro riding a Purple Reign, unless he's Graves or Hill, I guess... but still, nice one. Big Grin
  • + 1
@mtbikeaddict: Holy crap!!!! 'Purple Reign' Dammit man, you win! Big Grin
  • + 2
@Vaclav: Good points. I was rationalizing it with the "purple mountains majesty" line from "America the Beautiful".

Whatever the reasoning, I'd ride either like an expensive hooker!!!
  • + 2
@bman33: Prince would ride a Little Red Session. Baby you're much too fast. With Tranny Revolution 32 wheels, 26" of course.

Michael Jackson would ride a P.Y.T. (purple YT). Morris Day would ride a Time.

yes, the warheads dired from drones are purple tipped. and Jesus’ Mum used a purple dildo. @Y12Sentinel:
  • + 1
@twozerosix: This is getting good. Haha!
  • + 1
@Y12Sentinel: Counterpoints. 1) These are race bikes, and have nothing to do with Bravery or the Military. 2) who gives a shit about Christianity when it comes to using proper colors in a flag theme? The US is a nation of all types of religions. 3) Considering they did the same thing with the orange on Suarez's bike they did not have any symbolism in mind.

While I just don't like the idea of the purple personally its not really that big a deal. They did it because they thought the fade looked cool (which it does) and that's really it.
  • + 1
@rookie100: way to be a try hard
  • + 1
 @sino428: triggered?
  • + 1
@Y12Sentinel: no I just thought your comments were irrelevant and made no sense.
  • + 1
@sino428: art is in the eye of the beholder
  • + 1
@Y12Sentinel: Well if you are talking about "art" I think the frame is awesome. If you are talking about a patriotic theme, I don't care for the use of purple.
  • + 10
 Let’s go Gwinner!!!!
  • + 4
i guees the question is has the gwinner had enough time on the 29er,i hope so!
  • + 7
Yep, Paul Wall is about to drop a line in a rap about the candy paint drippin off dem frames or some junk like that.
  • + 3
Hahahahha....Big Bank Juan Hall instead of Big Bank Hank Razz
  • + 3
The candy gloss is immaculate, it's simply amazing
  • + 6
So far YT wins the custom paint contest for me.
  • + 3
They are going raffle off a prototype 29er Tues that no body out side of YT has rode yet? Neko doesn't even have one yet..

*Has Doubts*
  • + 4
Fox 40's on a 29er, is that possible? In La Bresse Gwin seemed to be riding Fox 49's on his 29er.
  • + 7
red decals for the matchy match
  • + 2
a href="https://www.pinkbike.com/photo/16311213/">this/a> is from yesterday's article, 49 decals in the standard fox orange
  • + 1
html fail but you get the idea Smile
  • + 2
Anyone else has spotted E13 wheels decals? AG Pro models 29, that escalated quickly!
  • - 2
And does Onza have a 29 inch model. All things point to it being a 27.5.
  • + 1
@underhawk: it works just copy at the start of http and end at the final >
  • + 3
@cmkneeland: Prototypes or small production run...tyre certainly says 29 if you look closely (it's a little covered by the grass, but certainly no "5" or three numbers before the "x".
  • + 1
@handynzl: I saw a better picture on IG. Def says 29.
  • + 2
It’s interesting to me some of the changes from bike to bike, like the cranks on Neko’s bike. He doesn’t get the high-end carbon ones?
  • + 7
He probably just prefers the alloy cranks over carbon. Durability, feel, etc.
  • + 3
They are also going to raffle that bike off since he isn't racing due to a hand injury. Maybe they just put together what they had on hand.
  • + 2
 @bman33: What? OOOOOOOOoooooo! Big Grin
  • + 1
Don't you think it could be a length problem ? His looks really long, maybe he needed longer cranks that don't exist in carbon.
  • + 2
@bman33: raffle off a prototype ? Hmmm That should be interesting to see who buys it
  • + 1
@dmock157: I read that somewhere today. I need to find the link...maybe Vital?
  • + 6
 @dmock157: Neko's isn't a prototype
  • + 1
 @kdimock: hes scared of 29ers me too ! ????????
  • + 1
I think it would be unlikely as the are (at least on their website) available in the same lengths. But as bman mentioned, it could be whatever was available in a pinch. @Vandermouten:
  • + 1
Best bikes by far, those gradient colour combos are brilliant. Vali's YT is nice too, trees and slight paint/blood splatters Smile
  • + 2
all those bikes are insane... if i had to pick a favourite one i dont know which one id pic!!
  • + 2
Is that a Fox shock on Gwin's bike?
  • + 2
Oh ya, upon closer inspection, it is. Kinda subtle graphics.
  • + 2
Sarcasm aside, those bikes ARE hot. Good luck guys.
  • + 1
Steady Mobbin. Best of luck yall. Ameriqua y Espana and North Cackalacky, too! Go Oskar Blues!!
  • + 1
Is it just me or does the TRP derailleur looks awfully alot like a Sram derailleur?
  • + 1
The more i see the i loving it A.G. bike is super sick.
  • + 1
Mulally's bike looks like they asked their president to draw the flag
  • + 1
 why is it pink lol
  • + 1
 Sooooo damn nice Drool
  • + 1
 Stunning! Wink
  • - 3
They're nice bicycles forsure but IMO I'm not a fan of any colour combination to 'fade into another colour' meh just seems retro
  • + 0
Retro is in, in case you didn't notice... Not a huge fan of the fade either, but they all look pretty sweet just the same.
  • + 3
I'm honestly not digging the paint at all.
  • - 1
Vali`s bike looks better than all of those
  • + 3
I don’t know about better, but it should definitely be up here with these. It’s awesome.
  • + 8
agreed. Vali for YT Mob 2019.
  • + 1
Yeah - I'm with you on that one - loving Vali's melting Austrian flag...
  • + 1
@Dudeclimbsrocks: I second that! Put Vali in the Mob.
  • - 2
Tires are all the wrong side up *eye twitch*
