What a weekend! YT Industries knows how to party and play hard!

Why can’t just every family meet up be like the YT Family Reunion? Enjoying some laps in the bike park with pro riders like Brett Tippie, Richie Schley, Ace Hayden and the YT MOB, eating delicious food and soaking up a bucket full of good times.

For YT, these kinds of family reunions take place on a yearly basis and this one was even more special as they were celebrating their 10 year anniversary and the launch of their new slopestyle bike PLAY. For that reason, a bunch of YT’s pro riders showed up and were joined by the YT MOB to celebrate and entertain the YT community. There were a lot of Young Talents around – how often do you get the chance to shred the trails next to the reigning Downhill World Cup champ? Even an hour before the official start a crowd of people gathered in front of the YT Rolling Circus counter, waiting to rent a YT and spend some Good Times on the trails. The Rolling Circus crew was busy working and lending out bikes so anyone could go for a shred – tech talk, expert setup and well-packed goodie bags included.

Chances were good to meet YT’s team riders such as Ace Hayden, Brett Tippie, Bryan Regnier, Erik Irmisch, Johann Potgieter, Richie Schley, Aaron Gwin, Neko Mulally and Angel Suarez on the trails of bike park Osternohe. The boys were on fire and impressively demonstrating what’s possible when riding a YT. While waiting at the lift or taking a break in between, autographs were signed on bikes, shirts and bodies and of course, there was enough time for tech talk and photo sessions with the YT family.

After biking, empty batteries were recharged with burgers, fries, cookies and coffee, all served by various food trucks. And energy was urgently needed, as at 4pm the living pun gun and epitome of talkmaster skills – Brett Tippie himself – grabbed the microphone to host this year's Bunny Hop Contest. And the game was on! Even the YT MOB couldn’t resist to give it a try. Neko even set the record with 95cm on his TUES – of course, out of competition. In the end, Young Talent Daniel, now officially bunny- hop-approved, took the jackpot of a 100 Euro voucher, a cap and a t-shirt.

If you are looking for a bike for more demanding tricks than a Bunny Hop, you should take a look at YT’s new full suspension slopestyle bike. Launched just the day before, the Heritage version of the PLAY was officially introduced to the public in Osternohe. The full suspension bike is made of carbon and unites bike manufacturer’s roots in the Dirt category with the progressive development work of YT. So there was no better time than YT’s 10 year anniversary to celebrate the PLAY. It’s limited to 25 pieces and exclusively sold in Europa – better buy fast!

During said family reunion, there surely was a planning and strategy session amongst all the big wigs to get more inventory in the US right? K. Thanks.

 I hope so!!!!

Are there any bikes for sale or is this a big tease.

don't worry, thousands of Chinese workers are working really hard right now in a factory in the city of Yiwu for about 2 bucks an hour, so you can get your carbon frame very soon, and also help make comunism great again
  • 3 3
YT & Canyon have to take a back seat in the factory to the big name brands. If Brand X wants 30,000 frames & pays cash & YT wants 5,000 frames....doesn't matter how they pay, they're going to the back of the line.
And if when they run out, they gotta wait until big boys are done.

@mstephenson325 the more important part is to ask yourself...if they don't have frames to sell, what will they do if they need to warranty someone?
  • 4 1
It's shameless that they are frameless.

No shit!!! Paid for mine 3 months ago and STILL sittin' on the couch waiting for my Capra. Can,t understand why a company would release a 2018 model 8 months into the year! Hope it's worth the wait.

 @Benito-Camelas: $2/hr = optimistic
  • 2 0
@bizutch: given the price point compared to the non-direct brands, just buy two... kidding of course

@Benito-Camelas: YT is no different than most all of the other bike design companies. High skill in house design and intellectual talent combined with a globalized manufacturing network. YT is no different. They just reworked the sales side and went straight to the end user. It's the age of the internet. The world is much smaller than it used to be. Evolve or die - as Specialized once proselytized.

 @Benito-Camelas:

Naw breh, they're made in Formosa. OK, you may call it Taiwan, but that's a whole lot more friendly to the Falun Gong. This post just set off an alarm in the Great Firewall of China.

Is it ethical to 'support' a comunist dictatorship where people die for expressing different views?
I don't know, maybe this is the right way to do things these days, I guess money is above all

@Benito-Camelas: "I guess money is above all". Unfortunately, yes.

@Benito-Camelas: Just don't show me how awesome a frame is that I can't buy. If you communists can't make enough move the manufacturing.

That's a big hop for a DH bike!

 YUGE!

YT family is not complete where is Andreau

A bunch of my buddies including myself could've been on YT if it werent for any shortage in stock. How is YT addressing this problem?

Play looks like mini version of GT sanction
  • 1 1
There is something about the plastic image of yt that really bothers me. The bikes look cool, but when I rode the Capra was not better than a random diamond back or Specialized. Ok better than a specialized yes.

This video came out 2 weeks ago. Just now coming to the front page?
  • 1 0
this is what I was thinking. Was a bit confused.
  • 1 0
@jojotherider1977: No World Cup coverage this week I guess
  • 1 1
is it just me or does the new slopestyle bike look like a mini specialized demo??
  • 3 2
What ? 95cm bunny hop on a full rigid DH bike ??? WOOOOOW
  • 3 6
How do they run a business where they literally run out of every single piece of inventory for multiple models? Thats a massive failure of their distribution and production. I love that they are providing affordable bikes for folks, but it doesn't make one ounce of difference if no one can actually get the bikes.

Would guess they are having hockey stick growth curve in sales every year so maybe they are under forecasting. Agree they need to improve logistics and fulfillment big time, I waited 2 extra months for my Jeffsy last year... worth it though.

Bike companies regularly left with excess inventory at the end of the year don't won't last long. It's good to be in demand and a little oversold. YT buyers need to plan ahead right now.
  • 1 0
@jimeg: Yeah I mean that makes sense and I understand the economics behind that decision. But when it's months long of zero inventory it starts raising eyebrows. Bit more than a little oversold. I would hope its just a temporary glitch as they start figuring it out for the US.

Being sold out of product isn't a bad way to run a business... I managed to get both a Tues and Jeffsy last summer, my Capra ships end of August to complete the holy trinity quiver. Super fun bikes, btw...

I like Ace Hayden's personalised 'Ace Face' jersey, too

What is it with people throwing handsigns. That guy sticking twos up with Gwin in the picture looks to me like he's saying F U. What a plonker I love gwinny

I hate that played-out 2-finger Beiber salute. It just says "I'm a Kook with zero street cred"
