 Because of Randy.
  • 35 5
@Boardlife69, nah, Randy rides a 29er. His invite for Rampage probably got lost in the mail, because otherwise he'd be out there building his line by himself under that hot desert sun.
  • 38 5
@slumgullion: Randy doesnt build lines, the earth conforms to Randy's vision.
  • 149 4
Chuck Norris met Randy once. Chuck Norris is now Randy's tire insert.

what, Randy is 26 for life dude?
  • 3 0
@slumgullion: but Randy's name was called out on the participants list, check out this vid (go to the moment when Godziek arrives at the Rampage site and participates in a kick-off meeting):

These 26" bikes look so much nicer/funnier than all these ugly ass 29er

 Where's Aaron Gwin?
  • 2 0
 @gapos999: that's a statement, not a question!!
  • 5 1
 @chyu: he's got a sore thumb
  • 6 0
@Boardlife69: Randy doesn't need a tire insert. Utah needs a Randy bumper.

never will be!!!! TwoSiX for life

My old 26" Jekyll is still faster than my new 27.5" process. With that being said my 26in wheeled bike is a lot harder to ride and really beats on my body. The 27/5 is definitely smoother and a skosh slower. The average difference is about 10 seconds on a 6-mile off road ride. The 26 inch wheeled bike definitely feels way more alive and Poppy. The 27 5 bike is smooth and flowy. At the end of the day I still choose the 27 5. It's way more forgiving and I do not get knocked around as bad as on the 26 inch wheels.
  • 1 0
@properp: I have been riding 29" bikes this year but I really don't feel like getting rid of my 26" Jekyll, it feels so solid, stiff and lightweight. A carbon 29" Capra is disappointingly flexy (and heavy) in comparison.

Interesting lack of Rampage coverage on Pinkbike... and around the web really.

Are people over it? Is freeride finally dead? Is rampage just too dangerous?
  • 32 0
There was a media coverage blackout until like 3 days before last year or something. If my wrecked brain remembers vaguely correctly.
  • 14 6
what do you mean by lack of coverage? We're still a 5 days out and there is plenty of content on instagram
  • 11 27
flag LOLWTF (Oct 22, 2018 at 12:20) (Below Threshold)
@laxguy: lmfao we're talking about the coverage on Pinkbike obviously not instaf*ck
  • 3 3
@LOLWTF: doesnt answer the question.. what do you expect them to be covering? we're getting bike checks, thats about the only thing to talk about right now
  • 10 1
@laxguy: He means a few years ago there was tons of different coverage that started about 2 weeks before the competition. Not everyone is on other SM sites.
  • 6 0
@nug12182: all they have done so far is 1 day of scouting, and 4 days of building. Yesterday was a rest day . Last year I don't think red bull let media on the property until 2-3 days before hand .
  • 2 0
Agree with that one !!! I hope for the scene that people are more interested in the scary stuff which the boys are digging at the moment and not in bikes.

Even this costum bikes look pretty nice.

Can‘t wait to see some footage on pinkbike, so that i don‘t have to stalk the riders on insta so much ...
  • 2 0
@Jordanh604: Im talking a few years ago
  • 5 2
@nug12182: my point still stands.. what is there to cover? people are digging lines, they havent even hit anything yet... relax, it's coming
  • 7 3
@laxguy: it's a new site and a bunch of new lines, the digging part actually offers some good opportunity for coverage. As for getting bike checks, we haven't got any from Pinkbike, if you pay a bit of attention you will realize YT created this article. Rampage and Hardline are two events that appeal the most to pinkbike's audience, yet we don't get any coverage so its weird and the rants sre justified.
  • 4 4
@LOLWTF: ok, i give up youre right, there is absolutely nothing on the internet about rampage, lets all bitch and complain.
  • 46 0
Don't worry, we've got a ton of content on the way. Articles on the line building, bike checks, pictures and videos of people upside down and doing flippy spinny things over gnarly terrain... It's all coming soon.
  • 18 17
Because Rampage has sold out and is a distant memory of what it once was. Before you had a bunch of guys stoked to make it down the mountain in one piece. Watching events was as easy as showing up and finding a spot to watch the riders come down. There were no sandbags or wooden features. The course was still very raw.

Now you have $500 ticket packages, riders are bitching each year about people stealing their lines, riders like Cam Zink get robbed on their runs, and you have slopestyle runs like thatlacondeguy winning. Basically it has turned into a giant soap opera and big air is rewarded vs technical ability. I'm glad I went a few times before they charged for tickets. Now I'm content watching the event on TV and figuring out how the winner was crowned vs someone else.
  • 4 2
@LOLWTF: the comment that started this was "...Pinkbike... and around the web really." i would consider the internet to be around the web.

@mikekazimer pictures of dogs, too, please!

@underhawk: yeah have you seen this guy's instagram story? He's got loads of coverage just gotta know where to look!
  • 1 2
@LOLWTF: 1) you would look at his IG story to find his IG story 2) now you're just deflecting bae
  • 5 2
@digitalsoul: I don’t think I would put Lacondeguy in that slopey category, not when semenuk is competing, Andreu has a much more raw style of getting down the mountain
  • 2 0
@laxguy: You must not be a digger.
  • 7 0
I just want a live stream of Tippie harassing everybody at rampage 10 hours a day.
  • 1 1
@nug12182: why would you say that?
  • 2 2
@laxguy: cause its foolish to think the builds don't deserve coverage
  • 2 2
@LOLWTF: i never said the builds don't deserve coverage. they are just getting builds wrapped up, did you want to watch slomo of Brett throwing sand and Cam looking off into the distance judging speed? it's already been said that more coverage is coming and they even rounded up all the "instaf*ck" clips that you couldnt bare to find yourself. same amount of coverage on vital too. quit ur bitchin
  • 1 1
That's because pinkbike is more interested in taking advertising money from Electric moped companies then focusing on skilled Riders on analog bikes.

  • 19 1
Holy crap all those bikes are so sick and ever so slightly unique even to each other..
  • 1 1
Jordan and Nell are so rad! They're all amazing of course, just personal faves. I knew that font would look good on a DH bike that Nell is using, I said god damn.
  • 19 1
YT saving 26 one RAMPAGE at a time!!!
  • 3 1
Make that 4 at a time (Jordie has left the church)!
  • 15 0
do they have custom frames for 26 or are they just putting 26 on the standard 275 frames.
  • 1 1
 @mikekazimir
Can you answer this?
  • 2 0
The seatstay is different. If you look closely you can spot it beeing aluminium. Normal Tues CF frames are full carbon.
  • 10 1
I'd love to see Jordie win this without a bike. Just running down the track, punching boulders and front flip the canyon gap.
  • 10 0
Still only 26" bikes have won rampage...

What’s honey suspension? Is it like honey badger? Seriously tho would love info, I live in a cave never heard of it, google reveals nothing

Is a small friendly tunning facility in Catalonia runned by a guy with loads of experience on MX dirt and DH.
  • 2 0

The Tues with a shorter rear end and 26” wheels would be such a rad bike.
  • 1 1
 you mean like a Sunday
  • 2 1
@rcrdrvr: kinda but I think the Sunday had longer chainstays even than the 27.5” Tues. They were just quite short for the time? Or I may be mistaken. I guess they’ve been able to take those freeride Tues bikes down to about 425mm with 26” wheels in em. Be interested if anyone’s read about it, they seem to have kept it hush but I haven’t exactly been looking hard.

..on bike whit 26" wheels the seat stay is in alu
...and it is not the same as that of tues Al 27.5 stock...

Also I'll dare to say their typical customer is someone with less disposable income=younger=harder shredder
