Extralite Wheelset

$1300 USD
Wheelset built up by Muller of Germany, with a request to build up a wheelset as light as possible, with no limitations other than I am a light rider who does not race. The order, placed on 2-18-2022, took almost four months to complete, as the Extralite hubs from Milan, Italy, were just not available. Before receiving the wheelset on 6/17/22, I made up my mind that I would need to sell it as soon as I got it, as things had come up that changed my situation financially (turned 65 and I now have to pay for Medicare, and my old cellphone died, and had to be replaced.), I made a YouTube video of the unboxing, which can be viewed https://youtu.be/2C4JBaXssjk . Any questions, feel free to ask. This is going to be my first sell on Pinkbike, so I am going to take things a little slow, to make sure everything is done properly. The details from my invoice is as follows: Wheelset 29" MXXCarbon rims w/ rim tape Extralite 15x110mm boost x12 142mm XD 28h, Sapim, 1060g The weight is not a typo, but the projected weight of the build, estimated by Muller. Because of the weight, which is lighter than the Specialized Control SL, I would ask that you consider your body weight and the type of riding that you do. If you are heavier, if you are a thrasher, you might consider a beefier build. But if you are building up the lightest bike possible for pavement or smooth fire road use, then this one-off wheelset would be for you, Included is the heavy duty wheel bag that came with the wheelset, as seen in the unboxing video. The items will be shipped in the same box that it came in, when delivered to me. For a review Muller wheelsets as seen in BikeRumor, see: https://bikerumor.com/radsporttechnik-muller-builds-a-properly-wide-insanely-light-1060g-29-boost-xc-wheelset/ November 2, 2022: Update! Lowering asking price to $1700. Also will include a pair of brand new Shimano XTR pedals, free. I obtained the pedals with hopes that my XT's will break down, but that does not look to be the case. I live in Culver City, and I would prefer that the products be picked up, as that would save you on shipping costs. I found the lowest cost to be UPS. According to their data base, a box 11 pounds, with the included box size, is around 95. If the buyer sees an lower shipping service (but must have tracking and insurance), please let me know. If you already have a pedal, I can sell the wheelset without the pedal, for $1550. Remember, the extreme weight loss from such a light wheelset will probably make your ability to accelerate, unbelievable. Also, if you need that edge over your riding buddies, both physical and psychologically, get this wheelset and pair it with the ultra light weight Schwalbe Thunder Burt. 4/15/2023. Took measurements using a digital caliper, with the info as follows: Front hub is an Extralite Hyperboost 3 hub, coming in at 4.32 inches or 109.9 mm wide. The rear is a Extralite Hypersmart 3 hub with a width of 141.9mm or 5.58 inches. While I was waiting for the wheelset to be built, Andreas at Radsport in Germany reached out and advised that the delay can be further as he is waiting on the model that matches front and back. I told him its okay to substitute, as long as the weight is still as light as possible. Hence, the Hypersmart 3 rear, and the Hyperboost 3 front. 4/17/23 A request for the weight of the wheelset was made by a prospective buyer. Recorded the weighing of the wheels today, and made it into a YouTube video: https://youtu.be/ZHCyHwaNCYE Compare this weight to that of competitive road bike wheelsets in the following article: https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/best-road-bike-wheels/ 4/26/23 A request for info on the bolt pattern was made by a potential customer. Added photos showing the 6 hole pattern, with distance between holes measuring 9/10th of an inch, from center of bolt hole to center of next bolt hole, which would be the industry standard. 1/21/2024 Good news! Price reduced to $1300! My loss is your gain, praise the Lord, anyways! 2/16/2024 I procured two rim boxes from my local bike shop, which should reduce the shipping charge. 2/17/2024 Went to USPS post office to get sample shipping costs, one for shipping to New York, and another to Canada. Photos are pictures of the customer terminal at the post office for one box weighed by the postmaster. There are two boxes, so would need to double the cost shown on the display. Since I was out in the field, I went to UPS store, and they wanted $195 for one box to Canada, and $172 for one box to New York. Also measured and took pictures for another prospective customer, confirming through measuring that the front hub is boost (110mm), and the rear is non-boost (142mm).
