6 Things We Learned at EWS La Thuile
The adavntage of carbon frames and handlebars is well proven actually. Well engineered carbon frame is lighter, stronger and more comfortable to ride. Put emphasis on "well engineered" though, it takes a team of scientists to do such job. Handlebars are the same, except easier to engineer since the compliance is moreless given by the use of ud carbon. When it comes to cranks, this is where carbon offers no real advantage, because the expected multi-axis stress requires stiffness, and they have to be overbuild in order to withstand rock strikes and such, so no weight savings either.

Review: NX Eagle - SRAM's New Affordable 12-Speed Drivetrain
And this is what has been available for some time frankly. Sunrace 11-50 cassette, "only" 11 speed, but cheaper, lighter, and compatible with almost all existing 11 speed derailleur.

Review: NX Eagle - SRAM's New Affordable 12-Speed Drivetrain
@YouHadMeAtDrugs: No, I could do 3 shimano drivetrains in one gx eagle's time. I can't fault XX1 and XO1 eagles tho, they are just fine to ride and work with, but priced accordingly. That's why I'm worried about even lower 12 speed, it's gonna be a hassle.
