  • 37 0
 There's a 26" Pike. Just my frickin' luck, final conclusive proof that #26aintDead (with a deal to boot) and it's the day before the apocalypse.

 @pinhead907: yeah I was about to get the 19 dollars TLD kneepads but why bother I can ride without protection on the last day of earth.
  • 59 0
 @fercho25: That's not the only thing you can do without protection on the last day of earth.
  • 8 1
 Santa Cruz is gonna be the new intense!
  • 7 1
 @Lastpikd: since minaar snapped his in half
  • 3 2
 @sdaly: hhahahah
  • 3 1
 @pinhead907: but it has a tapered steer tube... ☹
  • 1 0
 @Ron-C: I applaud you
  • 31 3
 Santa Cruz appears to have defeated Intense in the great bargain box war
  • 13 1
 Inflate price to full, MRSP then discount to "sale".
  • 2 1
 @PinkyScar: zackly!!!
  • 11 0
 That's not really coming as a surprise, Minnaar already rode a half off V10 this summer...
  • 7 0
 @michibretz: So it's now a V5!
  • 28 1
 I just came here for the Intense comments.
  • 23 1
 For whoever is getting into the sport $1600 for a bike with slx, debonair and mattoc is an amazing deal!!!
  • 3 0
 I paid 1800 for my vitus escarpe (just has a different rear triangle than sommet/ khs) with full sram X1 drive train. after import tariffs and other taxes it came out to 2300$ so a really amazing deal if you can get around the tariffs (crc does do tariff paid offers)
  • 14 1
 Not as intense as expected...
  • 9 0
 Has anyone had luck with Vitus? I’m irrationally looking for a new bike I don’t need and for the price of them it wouldn’t be too expensive of a gamble.
  • 5 2
 its CRC's budget in-house brand. Likely won't have much trubbz with it
  • 17 1
 @YouHadMeAtDrugs: thx for that ever so insightful review

 My Vitus Sontier hardtail is awesome. CRC sucks to deal with. I wouldn't purchase another one due to CRC being the worst online shopping experience I ever had.
  • 6 0
 @Unrealityshow: that’s surprising to head, I’ve yet to have an issue buying from CRC and they ship way faster than Jenson or Backcountry imo.
  • 3 0
 I believe I read somewhere that they're actually made by nukeproof, but I have no proof of this. For that price though the spec is worth it even if the frame goes to junk in a hurry, which I highly doubt. I'd ride one.
  • 3 0
 @nyhc00: they're great, until you need to return a defective product. I ordered a KS lev dropper in august, when I received it wouldn't hold weight. I have yet to receive a replacement or refund after shipping it back at my own cost.
  • 2 0
 I've got last year Sommet with GX and Mattoc comp, and the only thing I've changed on it is the dropper.... I've got the Brand-X one, which is also listed in here. Great bike for someone who knows a bit about bike riding (I've had bmx and jump bike) and wants to start doing some mountain biking.
  • 1 0
 @Duderz7: they spec with nukeproof handlebars fwiw
  • 3 0
 My wife rides the sentier hardtail. It's a great bike and the price was phenomenal. They do a great job specing good component sets (no XT derailleurs with shitty forks) and the frame seems well made and light enough. I'd definitely recommend.

 I ride a XL 2016 vitus sommet pro (www.chainreactioncycles.com/ca/en/vitus-bikes-sommet-pro-suspension-bike-2016/rp-prod135388 ) and love it. I use it for my everything bike, xc to bike parks. I rode my local cross country trails all summer and went on a few trips to the mountains as well (fernie bike park, whistler bike park/xc trails, and revelstoke xc trails) and it handled all of them well.

The only place where I have ran into problems is on steep up hill climbs on tight switch backs the bike can be difficult to get around the corners due to my bike being a XL frame and the sommet being more raked out than its true trail counter parts. A small price to pay to have a bike that will be at home in the parks as well (at least for someone at my skill level). I rode whistler at the end of sept and it handled the jumps, ruts, and braking bumps very well.

 Had a few Vitus bikes now. All awesome. Haven't a bad word to say about any of them.

 Go to your local shop
  • 10 5
 @DylanDaSilva: Oh yes, that increase in overhead and less purchasing power really translates to bigger sale prices......
  • 4 3
 @scott-townes: I dunno my local shop offered me free lifetime service on my blinky light. Yes I paid twice as much for the same light, but at least the selection was smaller and the kid selling it copped attitude with me for making him look up from his repair. Why should retailers adapt to anything? That's how capitalism works. @DylanDaSilva wake up
  • 7 0
 Competitive Cycles listed here 25% but click on the link and it's 15%...............where did the other 10% go? Is this common core advertising.........
  • 2 0
 Nah, if this was common core the answer would be b2, left bearcorn. Common core needs to die.
  • 1 0
 Santa Cruz pulled back on their pricing. Article should be updated soon.
  • 11 7
 It sure would suck to be a dealer for Intense, Yeti, Santa Cruz, (and the other usual suspects) and have to deal with competing with these weekly closeout prices. Whoring out the brands at cheap prices doesn't do much for resale value or anything to keep the name as a premier brand. Intense almost has the same name power as Hyper, Schwinn, and Mongoose.
  • 5 1
 Are you actually bitching because of a slight risk that bike prices might drop a little? (as if that would happen)
  • 1 0
 Intense signed an exclusive with MEC in canada which left MANY former dealers with old stock that had to be paid for and was taking up realestate that they needed for other things
  • 2 0
 @mcgetskinny: No, of course not. What I'm saying is that I feel for LBS that carry those brands and see local customers on those new bikes bought at cheap prices online. Having managed a LBS, I can tell you (as is common knowledge) that there is no way to stay in business by selling your stock at cost. That business plan doesn't work.

I'm saying that when you can get a new Intense for half price, they guy that is trying to sell his loaded up 2-3 year old Intense now has to really drop his price in order to sell it at all. How would any of us like to be that guy?
  • 1 0
 @sledMXer: that's why my strategy is to buy last years mid-spec bike on closeout. You always take the risk buying the brand new loaded model and trying to sell it within 2ish years.
  • 5 0
 @evo Who won the Spartan?
  • 2 0
 It seems the vitus sommet is only on sale for US customers, when I try to order it to my country the sale price doesn't appear... Any one know if this is true or how to get around it?
  • 1 0
 No idea how to get around it but I'm in the UK and we've got a 15% discount on RRP compared to the American/European prices which have 25% off. Where is your Head Office CRC??
  • 4 0
 serious question-does anyone have any experience with the brand x dropper from CRC?
  • 1 0
 Yup, got it on my Vitus. Very smooth, trouble free, reliable dropper. Quite low stack, which was one of the deciding factors for me.
  • 3 0
 $37.52 on shipping in the states on $20 knee pads! Where's the savings PB???

  • 2 0
 Vitus makes great bikes, just MAKE SURE you put lock-tite on the hanger bolts, otherwise you will regret it!!
  • 3 1
 September?? About a month late on the release or what lol
  • 1 0
 I guess Santa Cruz decided 25% of was too much. It had been at 25% for about a week and now everything is only 15% off.
  • 2 1
 Got to love the 20 dollar knee and shin then the cheapest shipping is 43 dollars -_-
  • 1 0
