Swappin blades after giving some branches a little love. Nothing a little carbon fibre can't handle, right?

not impressed...there was no drone shot of him stretching his goggles over his helmet or pushing his bike up the hill.
  • 64 4
No drone footage of him in his garage in the dark with a mega spotlight on, no drone footage of him driving his truck
  • 82 3
and no drone shot of coffee being pressed and IPA drank after the trails have been hit!! Other than that it was probably the best vid I can recall seeing in a very long time, so immersive
  • 14 3
@Waldon83: No coffee at the start, no beer at the end. What's up with that? (damn you sewer-rat, typed to slow!)
  • 16 2
Don't forget the macro shots with moss!
  • 1 0
@Citrons: Was just coming to post this too.
  • 7 1
Also no shot of someone in some sort of motorized vehicle drifting on a dirt road complete with close up of the occupants being completely unphased en route to dropping in.
  • 6 0
no drone or POV footage of the drone.
  • 6 3
 No trail dog.
  • 12 1
 They didn't use Sail
  • 3 0
@TobiasHandcock: Wrong. There was a shifty eyed dog.
  • 1 1
@T-Bot: lay off the weed ! Lol
  • 1 0
 @TobiasHandcock: yes there is... 2:18!

Just... Hoooollllllyyyyy shit. That is amazing
  • 61 0
Sick! But where’s the drone footage following the drone following the rider. THATS WHAT I WANNA SEE
  • 10 0
 Droneception
  • 57 0
Hmm, if it's possible to fly through a tight forest, just inches away from the rider... Could that drone carry a water bottle instead of a camera?
  • 7 0
Frames will now come with a water bottle drone option instead of a cage
  • 13 0
no need for a hydration pack when you have a hydration drone
  • 2 0
 and a tool bag
  • 4 0
 and a mechanic
  • 57 0
Amazing footage, good riding and the bits with rider following drone were particularly special.
  • 20 0
Yassss! Finally, Someone has done it in a tight forest, good job. I bought a racing rc multicopter a few years ago with the hopes of doing just this, but realized how much time it would take to get this good... And went a ride my bike instead.. Hah.

Can't wait until Redbull does this at the World Cups!
  • 19 0
Redbull would manage to decapitate a rider.

One thing I've learned in life, is I see these videos, and always think, "wow these people have it wonderful with their amazing trails"; but their trails to them, are no different from my trails to me. The grass is always greener on the other side!!!
  • 80 0
It's usually greener on the other side because it's been fertilised with BS.
  • 6 0
 @P3N54: Comment of the day!
  • 2 5
Looking at your profile, it looks like you live in Calgary. I'm not an expert in NA geography, but isn't it one of the places where MTB started, more or less?
  • 14 0
Sorry, not your imagination. The trails actually are better out here in BC Wink
  • 7 0
Yeah, you've never been to Fernie. They are much much much better. As an Ontario boy, I expected to be blown away on my first tour to BC, but the trails were even better than my dreams.
  • 2 0
No we realize how good our trails are in Fernie ; )
  • 37 24
I want one with freaking laser beams attached to it so I can shoot Joey's in the park. Just aim for the Bell Super helmets and jerseys with Monster Energy logos pew! pew! pew!
  • 4 2
don't forget about captain cratoni and his o'neal pajamas crew
  • 2 0
well what did we get? sea bass, sir... Are they angry?
  • 3 5
 @kbonesddeuce: ill tempered!
  • 21 1
Waki lets be honest. You dont actually ride a bike. Trolling is what you do

Like, I just posted my new video edit on Pinkbike and then I watch this and think to myself, I should take my video down and hang my head down in shame Frown

This video is SO BAD ASS! The perspective action shots from the drone is UNREAL. The person flying the drone had to have been wearing vision goggles if not, then that's even more insane!
  • 4 0
nevermind, I see the goggles in the photo Smile
  • 8 0
Simply the best drone footage we have seen yet. No weird breaks or turns out of the drone.... so smooth. Just a perfect edit. As for my neighbor flying over my house in the morning while I’m drinking my coffee on the deck..... well.., that kinda bums me out.
  • 3 2
In KY you can shoot em down
  • 1 0
I think the primary reason this is so much better is that the fluidity of the shot is not based on the drone software, but rather the pilot's skill. Unreal stuff.
  • 1 0
 Sling shot and rubber ducky?
  • 1 0
@pat266: Exactly! The way the GoPro is fixed to the top of the quad-copter means all the panning, tilting and zooming is done by the pilot. Case in point is when the camera flies over that big drop. The piolt attempts to dip the nose as much as he can to show the landing before the copter can't dip forward anymore and just flies forward.
  • 10 0
Who's the real hero here? The drone pilot or the bike pilot?
  • 5 0
 Both.
  • 1 0
Don't you think there are 3?
biker
drone pilot
camera man
  • 1 0
@Uuno: The camera is fixed to the top of the quad-copter, so the cameraman is the pilot. Interesting the pilot doesn't go by his or her name in the article credits, just Instagram handle. Who is this mystery pilot?
  • 11 2
Drones for UCI DHI in practices or races, when?
  • 7 1
^^THIS^^ is what we're all waiting for. The whole game will change and I imagine viewership would skyrocket if/when they get on this.
  • 1 0
 @crashtor: Duuude! Near miss...
  • 1 0
I imagine it's only a matter of time. I think risks can be easily managed and are small compared to risks the riders are already taking. I don't think they'll ever have full race runs but will still need several equally skilled pilots (no small order) and some automated fail-safes, but it will come.
  • 8 0
One of the best vids for a while .... that drone is also Rocking JEDI Status piloting through the trees!
  • 5 0
I'd say it captures the moment better than any other style of filming I've seen. It makes the saying "no the camera doesn't show you how gnarly it is" out of the question. That was fricking gnarly shnit!
  • 7 0
That was awesome! Dude just changed the game forever!
  • 5 0
That was incredible. A bit heavy on the freeride flicks but still incredible.
  • 1 0
Yeah, looked like he had a nervous twitch or something. Cool vid all the same though
  • 2 0
 Yea what an idiot!
  • 4 0
I am enjoying the coverage of Fernie lately. It is such an epic spot that sometimes gets overlooked as BC is so literally chalked full of amazing ski/bike towns.
  • 6 0
 Hey EWS, pay attention
  • 4 0
Very cool footage. Would be rad to see the drone chasing the rider through the woods through the lens of a second drone.
  • 3 0
That was beautiful to watch. Great riding, great tunes (anyone know who the artist is?), great editing, and off-the-charts flying/filming!

V O Y ! !
  • 4 0
First wow And now when are we going to get one of semenuk from the top to the bottom of a trail
  • 1 0
I just got a DJI Spark drone. Now all I need to do is learn how ride like that and find someone that can fly the drone and I'm all set for a drone edit. All jokes aside the spark is a cool drone. It's harder to fly with precision than it looks. I managed to get some cool practice vids but I will have to get better at flying it. Also, editing all the raw video is hard too.
  • 6 2
This is the best video I have ever seen!!!
  • 7 1
You need to broaden your horizons
  • 2 1
I agree, best footage I have seen
  • 3 0
How many drones were harmed in the making of this film? DRONES ARE PEOPLE TOO.
  • 5 1
One of our favourite edits of 2018!

This has to be in the top votes for VOY!
  • 3 0
Impressive ! No credit to the pilot ? Or I missed it ? Because that's the true amazing performance in this video!
  • 3 1
 Airblastr is the pilots handle.
  • 1 0
@pbraunstein: oh I thought airblastr was the drone's model or brand or something. Should have looked it up before, thanks!
  • 1 0
@Minikeum: Who is this mystery pilot?
  • 2 0
New, original, difficult, and you did it first. Congratulations!! The perfectly timed "chirps" in the sound track took it over the top.
  • 2 0
Nice on Dylan. You made the move to a Santa Cruise? Judging by the sheer amount of comments you've cracked the pinkbike scene wide open with this one. Shit I miss Fernie!
  • 2 0
I miss the usual disclaimer: no drones were harmed during the making of this film.
  • 3 0
Can't say it if is isnt true Wink

VIDEO OF THE FUCKING YEAR !!!

  • 3 0
Any idea what the tunes were? Rad songs.
  • 2 0

  • 2 0
First track is Woodswimmer by Bedtimes and the second one is Sortie du corps by Ours Samplus. Sickness!
  • 2 0
This video is absolutely killer! The dirt jumping scenes gave me goose bumps!
  • 3 0
 Damn! Love the soundtrack too.
  • 1 0
Next level, well done guys! It felt like I was watch two people shred, pilot and rider, two different lines. So much potential to keep pushing as well!
  • 2 1
With cameras becoming so compact and light, has anyone ever attached a camera to their trail dog? I love footage shot at that height.
  • 1 0
Now someone just needs to make a compact camera stabilzer that can handle a dog...
  • 3 2
This is just a mountain bike website, but man... tabloid/30's headlines are really en vogue these days, eh?

MUST SEE! UNBELIEVABLE! - where are the extraterrestrials?
  • 1 0
BTW: this looks like a really great ad for skynet's new human tracking system!
  • 2 0
clickbait. All the mtb vlogs are doing it "OMG, YOU WON"T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I CAME OVER THE ROLL!!!"
  • 1 0
RED BULL .....all the money you have and your still shit at filming down hill racing ..you wanna hire this guy and let him show you how it should be done
  • 1 0
The video is Super Nice! It would be more awesome if there is a technology of drone which can followed the rider itself, no assistant needed.
  • 1 0
Video of the year candidate. The hours that must have gone into this shoot....

(Almost) too good to be true. Smile In other words: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

  • 1 0
HUGE props on your drone-flying-skills! I've been getting better at the dj1 but am NOWHERE close to that. Amazing.
