Heads up to those planning Mammoth trips

I was going up today for the week and found out that there is a large forest fire in the surrounding area and it is gaining momentum. I called the bike park office and they said the park is NOT closed down, however the air quality is terrible and the city is littered with smoke. I'm not sure on all the details of how long it will be until it may begin to clear up, but I just wanted to give a warning so people don't waste their time driving like I did.

I am going up on the 4th. I hope it will be ok to ride. Did you drive up there and it was just not rid-able? Or was the smoke preventing you from riding as well as you could?

The town is essentially smoked out. You can still ride, but the fire dept is warning people not to go outside, and doing strenuous exercise in those air conditions is unsafe. To top it off, two of the people in my group had asthma so staying and riding for the week wasn't a possibility
