Is there a requirement that the bikes have to be available to the public to race downhill? What are the rules around prototypes?

We live in a consumer-based world, so you won't be able to escape comparisons about bikes and maybe that extra bottle cage on bike storage is enough to sway the consumer. And slighting off topic but when it comes to comparing bike performance, we rarely talk about the sack of meat riding the thing which is probably where 90% of performance gains can be made. Anyway, now back to looking at shiny new objects and arguing about things i'll never buy.

by that logic, are you saying downhill mountain biking is easy, because you use a chairlift/shuttle?

Do the uphill sections count in timing for an E-Enduro race?

I think you're underestimating how much people care about aesthetics, just look at how many people complain about the looks of Pole or Orange bikes.

Winning bikes and cool stuff of social media definitely helps to sell bikes. I'm guessing subconsciously it factors in and so a survey probably wouldn't get the correct answers. At a minimum it gets the bike on your watchlist if you follow the sport.

If they made a one hour documentary style edit I think it would be a lot better. But that means you lose the live element. I think the formation video from the ladies show how good an edit can be. It means you can add pov footage a few more slow-mos and really show how steep and gnarly the lines really are.

I was like "meh" when I saw the vid on insta. I think it's because these I expect them to do it and they make everything look so smooth, easy and like a video game. You only really appreciate how bonkers it is when they crash or think about how friggen big and steep the gaps are.
