Pinkbike Poll: If You Had to Ride One Bike for the Rest of Your Life, What Would It Be?
@FrEeZa: haha in my case it was everything but the frame (including old Marz MX forks, xt crank, pair of elixirs and some wheels - halo front, xt/Dt Swiss rear) for £3 at local recycling centre. Then a dented 08 Trailstar frame on eBay for £25. Boom! Best 30 I ever spent!

Pinkbike Poll: If You Had to Ride One Bike for the Rest of Your Life, What Would It Be?
@Kainerm: I built a very (like really unbelievably) cheap trail hardtail, then after my first ride out on it realised just how over biked I was on my 150/170 full sus. I sold it so I could put some money towards some better forks for the HT.

Bike Check: Ben Cathro's Santa Cruz V10
I don't have anything specifically against Santa Cruz bikes, Rob Roskopp seems like a cool guy...but I do think, given that they are made in the same factories with the same parts as countless other brands, with very little objectively special about them (like say class leading innovation, manufacturing in their home country or interesting materials) they are just overpriced, so trade off their brand association more than anything else. Surely Ibis get a pass these days for making a reasonably priced bike from aluminium eh @Matt76?

Millyard's Hyper Ride Shock Returns
@fartymarty: I used Trek and Specialized mainly as examples of "big bike manufacturer", for me personally no hate to them or any other brand specifically. But they and others do show how (understandably) conservative the industry is at the top. These companies are big beasts with likely pretty slim margins, you can't blame them for being like that. But expecting innovation to come from that area is a bad gamble, it's not surprising that the smaller players (and backyard tinkerers experimenting for the hell of it) with less to lose are where the action is at.

@fartymarty: certainly in recent years, he seems to have pulled everyone along with him in this respect.
