Interview: Eliot Jackson on Santa Cruz, Grow Cycling Foundation, & Finding His Niche
@nurseben While I do understand your stance that there's a lot more to a person than the color of their skin, I think it is important to acknowledge that race profoundly affects how we experience the world. This particular interview didn't focus on race, but the intention wasn't to disregard the issue. I do think it's important to have dialogue that facilitates empathy and respect. I don't have the experience of going through the world as a person of color, so I can learn a lot from those who have that experience. It doesn't seem like a good solution to decide "I don't see color" when people of color can't just decide that their lives won't be affected by it.

I started riding through NICA. It was arguably the best decision of my life.

‘I Started Seeing the Good in Life’ - What Do Mountain Biking’s New ‘Pandemic Riders’ Think of the Sport so Far?
I agree. That was one of the responses that resonated with me the most. I think a lot of us have anecdotal evidence about what mountain biking can do for mental health and life, and I really appreciated such a poignant and vulnerable description of that experience.
