The Dogs of Sea Otter 2022

by Alicia Leggett
Alongside all the new tech and industry news, we also saw some dogs at Sea Otter. Shout out to all the (many) good dogs out there, too, that I didn't have the chance to photograph. We love them all. Enjoy.

Long hair, don't care.

The Sea Otter dogs were out living their best lives.

This one didn't love the sidecar experience, but was a great sport about trying it anyway.

Curious about the camera.

Elf ears!

This one gets the royal treatment of riding in that nice little wagon.

You'll see this photo under the 'good boy' dictionary entry.

He knows he's handsome with that flower collar and t-shirt.

Another dapper one.

He just couldn't contain his excitement enough to sit still!

Friends.

The coziest.

I'd like this dog to read me bedtime stories.

Alert and quite fashionable.

Downright amazing.

Very few of us can pull off the 'tongue out' look, but this one nailed it.

The softest.

Saying 'treat!' captured this one's attention.

This one's a working girl, walking around with her sheriff human.

Those icey eyes!

An excellent slalom spectator.

This one may have spent too much time in the sun (like all of us at Sea Otter this year).

If I remember correctly, this is Annie Oakley.

The backpack life is a good life.

A water bowl AND a wagon? This one has it figured out.

This article was one step away from publishing as one of those ad-bait "listicles" where every pic is on a different page, framed by ads and of course, every 5th page/dog is just an ad that you have to dwell on before you can skip it. Booo, I say.

Sea Otter: “No dogs allowed at sea otter. Policy will be strictly enforced”

Pinkbike: “Doggos of sea otter 2022 babyyyy!”

Lol

Yeah that's weird. I did hear people say they had to skirt certain entrances. Maybe only industry Insiders got in - not Outsider dogs?

@suspended-flesh: what you did there.....it was seen.

I like dogs. I just don't want to see any one else's, nor do I force others to see mine. Leave your filthy animals at home.

 @REZEN: You don't like dogs.

I bet most of those dogs are cleaner than a lot of the people there. @REZEN:

@REZEN: my dog is smarter than you and has a way better attitude.

Love photos of Doggos but please do a ‘dog check’! Name, age, favourite item of furniture to chew/urinate up….

We get a whole post about dogs at one of the largest Mountain Bike events of the year, but pictures of the Dual Slalom race at said event are behind a paywall. Interesting...

Even WynTV slalom coverage cut out all the good parts of a pretty rad course.

I turned off my Beta Filter to fact check you, and of course, you are 100% correct. That just makes me resent Outside+ more rather than being an incentive to pay for Beta content.....the Era is coming to an end.

if you click an Outside+ article and press ctrl+a the instant the page loads, then click ctrl+c, you can copy the entire article to the pasteboard. Then open up a word doc, and ctrl+v to view the entire article.

Boom! Out from under the heels of capitalist pigs!

@slowerthanmydentist: Yeah that's the one drawback, however I can take it if i can get their poetic articles of old backpacks for free. Nothing I've seen there is worth paying for.

You can use reader view in safari to do this as well and then photos will load too

Proud to say that my daughter was able to pet the majority of these dogs. Somehow we didn't see all of them but my kid loaded up on free hats, stickers and Dog pets all day on Saturday.

I was surprised that Sea Otter Classic is billed as a NO dog event. I was happy to see a few dogs at the event.

Apparently they only wanted to keep the dogs out that were with informed, conscientious and 'aware of the rules' types. Hipster Vanlife overlanders with industry ties can bring their dogs.

I'm here for the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever content on Pinkbike. Only thing missing was a Blue Heeler to make it the perfect article.

Ha... was wondering if anyone would call out that breed. Tollers are awesome... unless you foolishly teach them to play fetch

Pinkbike needs more dog content. Like, a lot more. "Do you have a dog?" Should be asked at every interview with a photo provided if possible.
