Nice to see the Canadian women included, of course only after we all freaked out on Cycling Canada!

8 Australian men, 0 women. Let the freak out restart.

@iamamodel: Was a bit disapointed in that myself. Not sure if there were any offers and they were declined due to Covid, or if they just decided none of our women were worthy??? I'd like to know though.

Wouldn't Verbeek compete too (for Canada)? Couldn't find her on the list.
  • 1 0
@vinay: She can't attend due to scheduling conflicts
  • 2 0
@Dicko22: Im pretty sure that cycling Australia wasn't going to send people over unless they were part of a pro team e.g. canyon collective.

@iamamodel: 3 Women were selected for Elite DH Worlds. 2 were excluded due to the Auscycle COVID policy which is that only riders on UCI registered teams or those currently based overseas will be eligible to compete at the 2021 UCI MTB World Championships. The third declined due to conflicting travel commitments

@AlanMcCrindle: Hi Alan, do you know who the rider that declined was? I was looking forward to see Sian A'hern race and wasn't sure if she was on a team this season
  • 4 0
 @iamamodel: Norway, 0 men 3 women.
  • 1 0
Yes, they said that they have allowed these women to go due to extenuating circumstances ( I take it, because the women that were chosen couldn't attend ) cyclingmagazine.ca/mtb/four-additional-women-selected-for-mountain-bike-worlds-team

I really don't know the details why there aren't any Australian women going. But im bitterly dissapointed that there isn't

At least Sian, the National Champ.
  • 5 0
@iamamodel: Sian is still injured unfortunately

ages here are great - Minnaar is literally twice the age of some of his competitors
  • 5 1
Tom Brady is just the Greg Minnaar of football.
  • 9 0
Greg Minaar won his first World Cup in 2001, maybe before thibaut deprela was even born. He won Nationals in 1999 before Finn Iles was born. He also has every chance to win world champs next week!

Bernard Kerr? Not looking too likely. I would imagine Gutierrez is pretty doubtful too. I'm guessing there are a lot of countries that will be racing who aren't listed here.
Also whoever compiled the lists needs to work on their alphabet (before anyone points it out, I'm not talking about Spain/Espana).

*some countries (maybe not a lot). For instance I remember a girl from Namibia was racing last year.
  • 7 0
Also, if Spain gets listed with the "E" countries, why doesn't Germany get listed with the "D" countries?
Seems like they should have either all gone by the english names or all gone by their native names.

nice to see one chick from El Salvador

Sad to see jack moir not having a go, but he has a series to win.
I also feel bad for Aaron Dooley missing out for Gwin’s place.
  • 4 0
Dooley may yet be there, based on Insty posts it seems Gwin is currently unable to ride a bike so seems unlikely he'll rally by this weekend....
  • 3 0
@Drew-O: ahh well that’s great news for Dooley!
  • 5 0
@Afterschoolsports: Gwin confirmed on the gram 30 minutes ago that he will not be racing worlds.
  • 5 1
Have to say it and am sorry: super stoked to finally be there in person this time! Can’t wait!

is redbull gonna have a live feed or will there be another live feed?
  • 1 0
Yes, same as with world cups
  • 1 0
Check with Redbull and what country you are watching from. I was blocked from watching all World Champs last year on Redbull TV in Canada....I couldn't get past their geo-fence with available free VPN's.
  • 1 0
@neons97: Probably the same for me... Just checked Redbull TV and didn't see World Champs on the schedule... BUMMER... Any way to watch it? I remembered I watched it for the past few years, why not this year...

I'm hoping Phil Atwill gets to ride (though I'd of course be sad for any of the guys ahead of him to have to drop out). He's not going to be a threat for the win, but he's having a really solid year.
  • 1 0
Does anyone know where can you watch live stream of the event? I'll be watching from the UK. Cheers
  • 1 0
Wild seeing all of those in the Elite field born this century. Field continues to stack up!

 Team France looks savage!

Will it have the same viewing restrictions as last year? I was unable to watch it on Red Bull TV here in the US.
