UR Team and Polygon Part Ways After 8 Years

Tracey Hannah did what she needed to do today and secured the World Cup overall. That champagne has never tasted sweeter.

UR Team’s split with Polygon hasn’t exactly been a secret after the release of the UCI team list, but now it’s official. The former Polygon UR Team will race this season as simply UR Team and has announced today that a new frame sponsor will be taking Polygon’s place.

bigquotesAs a team we want to say thank you to Polygon bikes for their support the past 8 seasons. It has been a wild ride and from a brand or a team perspective we achieved unprecedented results while having a crazy amount of fun.

It was a real pleasure to discover the amazing Indonesian culture, doing unforgettable trips, meeting crazy fans and making a lot of new friends.

So thanks to all the Indonesian people that worked, helped and supported us. We will see you again for sure!
UR Team

Good luck to Cous and the team - I'm sure they've got something awesome lined up and will be good to see possibly a new brand on the circuit and Joe and Mik holding it wideopen!

@lkubica: I just thought of something. Is Poland and Indonesia in reality the same country, but since Indonesia is on the other side of the globe, the flag is upside down?
  • 3 0
@megatryn: This would mean that they say "awruk" when they are upset Wink

@lkubica: and "gnijna" is a common expletive word in Poland. Wink

I wonder if Polygon is going to stop making DH bikes? Bikes Online said that they will no longer sell Polygon DH bikes in the US.
  • 1 0
Bicycles Online (.au) also hasn't carried them for a while now.

Hearing rumours that the brand isnt doing too well at the minute

@doe222: Seriously doubt that. Selling out like crazy in Australia and presumably also north America, same goes for Marin which they parent.

Probably just cutting a low demand product from the lineup to devote more manufacturing resources to the trail/enduro stuff people tend to want. Maybe also jettisoning the XSquareone suspension format

@caltife: I've never seen a Polygon in the wild here in North America, but that's only in the PNW...
  • 3 0
@gilby82: They've been selling in America for maybe 2 years so wouldn't have the same market presence as established players. I've only started seeing them regularly in Australia in the past 12 months, but they've been selling here for a long time. PNW seems like carbon and Kashima territory, whereas Polygon is more targeting the "hey guys started riding 6 months ago and love it and want to buy my first FS bike but my budget is only $2K, what should I get?" crowd

@doe222: I have never seen so many Polygons on the trails so they're doing great around here.

 Who owns a Polygon? Anyone?
  • 2 0
Well, there is two in my garage right now. Another eight was in my possession before I sold/warrantied them over the last 13 years.

I own one. Bought it from Bikes Online and it came in a different color than what they advertised. I didn't want to deal with sending it back, but had to paint it beecause it was eggplant color, super ugly. Has some nice components but it was otherwise really rough around the edges. No comparison in fit and finish to the higher end brands.

I have a 2021 T8 and am quite pleased with it.

I have one, but it's not an MTB. Excellent value and no issues at all.

My son rides the 2021 Siskiu N9. Good bike, good components for a good price. It's a little heavy and the weld marks are a little sloppy. He wanted a Xquareone DH bike (one of the few people I know who like the look of it) but it looks like they will no longer sell them in the US. Bummer.
