Nothing wrong with mountain biking, but if he had skis, he would have been down the mountain much faster and with a big smile on his face!
  • 16 7
I agree but it is still cool but not that fun to watch
  • 18 5
 Skiing is the bee's knees.
  • 21 2
I'm waiting to see something about fat bikes. Come on, Mitchell!
  • 4 2
give it some time. in a year or two people will be pinning it down trails like that
  • 39 7
 CHARGE IT PUSSY!
  • 9 4
skiing is most definitely the bees knees.

I think this video is insane just because of the tech. ability of that rider. I don't think you guys understand how insanely steep that is, haha. I'm not thinking about skiing down rocky hiking trails like some of you fellas are... Oh and the riding is def. isn't for everyone so I can understand people not appreciating fully this vid.
  • 1 0
Ahhh like maybe he's just on his way home from skiing or something, Jaha bro
  • 4 0
I understand the riders talent and the difficulty of the terrain. I know I couldn't do it without falling a few times at least.
  • 6 7
hm... can't there be a vid where some ripper gets on his bike as a way to shuttle himself up with the skis or snowboard? How about Seth Morrison, skis on his back, rolling up on a 29er?
  • 13 3
skiing may be the bee's knees, true. but snowboarding is the kittie's titties Wink
  • 13 9
finally some tech riding... anybody can be fast.. just dont think and brake,. this.. is different..
  • 3 0
there should be another video. " steep - clipped in"
  • 4 0
clipped in and died this way..
  • 1 2
Robnickels - there is a great video with Johannes, where you can see him riding uphill. Trial skills + muscle power = if you think it is clips you need to ride up fast - think twice...

WILL LONGDEN WOULD HAVE SHREDDED THAT ON A KLUNKER

" skiing may be the bee's knees, true. but snowboarding is the kittie's titties "
haha that was funny :-)

but come on, who's talking skiing when there is no snow in that video... or better said, just a dusting of snow.... its why he rode the bike, eh. :-p
  • 2 3
Nice logic I will try to adapt it - next time I will be riding on the pavement I will dismount - as pavements are for walking. I hope there is enough grass surface between my home and woods, otherwise either car with a rack or push the bike on pavement!
  • 2 0
 huh?

i forgot my comment was for you waki, and you dont get much snow in poland.

ok, I'm bored so I explain.... luckily where I am from, we would not take the skiis out for even twice as much snow as that.... and we are picky, so I'd even not take the skiis out unless its powder :-) so ok, re apply your logic :-)

Kitty titties..Hahaha. Approval from this end.

this dudes got crazy balance! props for trying any of this. i sure as hell wouldnt!
  • 2 0
he must have some ridiculously powerful brakes on that thing!!!
  • 3 0

  • 1 0
 some studded tires......
  • 22 0
Such a sick video, Some of the stuff he biked people wouldnt even try in the summer!
  • 8 0
Awesome video. Let's not forget guys, he's got to get all the way up there before even starting this ride. Looks gnarly steep. Anyone know what country this took place? Love that mountain biking is the universal language that brings us all to Pinkbike.

 Austria
  • 2 0
If its Austria they probably had a gondola, bus, train or maybe all three to get to the top
  • 4 0
I know the Trail, no Shuttle possibility and absolutely steep!
  • 1 1
the fact that he hiked his ass up there doesn't make it sound any more fun
  • 8 0
This trail would suck on skis and really not much faster. Old school tech riding and in snow. Look at the old Kranked videos with Simmons, Tippie, Schley and Dangerous Dan. Not much different in the steep mud. The guy's riding skills are great. I can appreciate how hard it is to ride in control like this. Thumps up if he had fun!
  • 2 0
Not to mention what your skis would look like after grabbing all those rocks.
  • 10 0
He's obviously had a pretty good comment recently...that was a sweet looking evoc pack
  • 17 6
 that doesnt even look fun...?
  • 2 1
I gotta agree... If I want to ride something that steep and snowy, it sure as hell ain't gonna be on my bike.. On my skis is a different story. But yea... downhill trial biking doesn't seem like that much of a fun time to me.

What this video demonstrates is 100% rider skills.
  • 9 3
 C-white.

This is a guy doing some really crazy descents in Alps. He is one of a very few who can do that, a very exclusive club called vertriders. I can only assume that this is his way of having fun and at the same time practising before the season. If he can do that on snow, it is going to be way easier on super steep lime rock slab, ending with 1000ft chasm.

I recommend you to see a ski movie with the same title called "Steep" - you could get an idea what this guy here is about. And I assure you there are way more fun looking things to do on skis than what those guys do. Yet... it is them being the ultimate bad asses...

ummmm....i'm pretty sure Duncan Riffle is the ultimate badass
  • 5 0
oh well thanks for making me feel bad about my riding skills again Big Grin nice one although
  • 6 0
 Now climb back up
  • 4 0
Would have been hilarious if this was done on a fatbike after that other article haha

i'm from vienna/austria. this trail is in the "hohe wand" massive, which is maybe 60km off vienna. the surrounding is absolutely flat. not much of a "typical" alpine area there. you have a 250m high wall that has a lenght of maybe 5km. there are hundreds or maybe thousands of climbing routes in the wall i used to rock climb there for years. the iron thing in the beginning of the video is called "sky walk" which is a visitor plannform where no-sport people can look down and watch the ground, wall and climbers. the top of the wall is a hughe grass and wood plateau. from bottom to top you can ride on a road made of asphalt. so you don't need a gondola or ride a difficult way up.

the trail itself is usually used by feed and pretty steep in most sections. personally, i've never seen someone riding down there on a bike. no question, it's a difficult, technical track and for me it wouldn't be fun to ride down there (and i'm not a very good mtb rider), but everyone as he/she prefers... it definititly does not make any sense to go down there by ski. the altitude of the top is maybe at 800m and in that part of the country you won't find metres of snow.

cheers

Cool riding. These kind of paths in the alps are extremely steep, thight, lots of roots and the cliff drops off vertically several hundred feet. Already challenging on a dry summerday, winter`s madness.
  • 3 1
The guy clearly has great technical skill, but there's something pretty boring about watching someone riding really slowly down a hill...
  • 2 0
I swear to god it was the music!
  • 2 0
That fork dive... looks like it would have been easier with a firmer fork. Awesome technical skill and balance though.
  • 3 1
this is so tweaker. seriously? i love bikes as much as the next guy. but come on dude strap on a snowboard or some skis.
  • 2 0
I think riding like this is great. It's as much of a mind game as a physical one. Kudos on the cool riding, dude!
  • 3 1
That was pretty cool, but part of me thinks that kind of riding would be much easier on a full rigid bike :/
  • 3 2
To me, it seems like a trial-biking downhill.
  • 2 1
 have a +1 ben
  • 3 0
All I need to know is what brakes he's usin wow
  • 5 2
well i made it about 25 seconds in before i lost all interest haha
  • 2 0
 That looks exhausting....
  • 1 0
I enjoyed this video. A 15in fork may have been useful. I like 2:45, using the tree for some balance, haha nice!
  • 1 0
Is that a 20L or 16L evoc? Thinking about to get one, but can't decide which volume to go...
  • 5 0
Get a 20 and only fill in with 16L, capacity to spare, future proof that sh1t !!
  • 2 0
At least you have a cushion when you fall
  • 3 1
Should have had a fatbike ;-)
  • 2 1
It's like winter trials riding, guy has great balance but its not the most exciting video.
  • 1 0
Johannes the mountain goat still at it. Good to see he is still mortal and actually makes mistakes.
  • 3 1
That guy is a nutter. Most would not try that stuff in the summer! Props.
  • 2 1
 what did you do today?
oh i walked down a hill on my bike!
-.- cool story bro..
  • 2 1
So want to try that! Looks pretty fun!

  • 2 1
Amazing and beautifle terrain. Well done.
  • 2 1
I wonder how many times he fell making the video...
  • 2 1
Dude has great balance! I'd try that for sure!
  • 2 1
steep does not even begin to describe his skill..
  • 2 1
impressive but I will never try this.
  • 2 2
That front tire had some serious grip on that snow. Well done to the rider.
  • 1 0
At first I thought he was going to to a big drop
  • 1 0

This is what I call downhill trial but without the speed component
