Pinkbike Poll: Are Rear Derailleurs Reliable?
I think the reasoning for a gearbox goes beyond plain reliability of the derailleur. The advantages of improved suspension and frame design are what will make the gearbox more popular. Looking forward to Pinkbike's review of the new Zerode Taniwha.

Steve Peat Announces Retirement From World Cup Racing
Every time I start thinking I'm too old for this sport (i.e. riding steep stuff, or hitting up some jumps). I just think of Steve Peat, Cedric or Fabien and go "Fuck it. Keep pushing till the wheels fall off!!" Awesome to have living legends to look up to.

The Destruction and Story of the Tadpole Trails
Great piece Finn. Unfortunately this seems to be the big trend in Sydney right now. Trails are being shut down down left right and centre. The legal trails that the councils are building simply don't cater for the needs of all mountain bikers. They are mostly aimed at the average punter, weekend warrior or XC rider. Councils simply don't get what riders want, no matter how much advocacy there is from trail builders and more aggressive riders. This is why illegals trails will keep being built, which I'm fully in support of! Keep the dream alive and keeping pushing the sport!
