When Dunbar cycles asked me to make their 2013 race team intro video, I was hyped. For such a talented crew they are super welcoming and fun to hang out with. Over the course of four days, we traveled to the North Shore, Vancouver Island, Mission, and Burnaby. When we went out to Mission, it was freezing cold and pouring rain. Almost calling it a day, we still went and battled it out. It turned out to be one of the funnest days filming with the crew and everyone killed it. It just goes to show that with these riders it doesn't matter what conditions they're in, they always make the most of it. Look out for when they hit the course, this team is on fire.

Dunbar's gotta be the tightest shop team around...
  • 6 7
 except chain-reaction!!"!!!!
  • 16 19
Chain Reaction isn't a shop team, it's what ruins shops.
  • 10 1
And dunbar isnt? The only difference os chainreactions success. Im sure dunbar would love to move as much product and have as much available funds/sponsors for their team as chainreaction does.

@radney, Well put. Buying parts online is to the bike industry, what music downloading is to the music industry. Some lose out, but shops that are able to keep up will do well. Often people say that smaller shops need to depend upon their ability to provide excellent customer service to allow them to compete with online shops, which is important but expanding your online store to a larger audience that likes shopping online is equally important. It is kinda crazy to think that many bike shops still don't post product or prices on their websites but rather a list of the brands that they carry. I think people easily forget that even Chain Reaction was and continues to be a local bike shop as well as an online dealer. There is no us and them, there is only those that get it and those that don't, which was true before online shopping.

I'm so sick of these clowns who complain about people who shop online. I'm sorry but as far as i'm concerned the online experience is vastly superior. Not one shop within 60km of me has anything I want for my bike. And I live within 60km of the two second largest cities in Ireland. They stock almost no proper mountain biking product. Everything I want would have to be ordered in. Even when I do go to them they dont have a clue about how to service mountain bikes. Not to mention the fact that they are often twice the price for what little relevant stock they do have. Chain reaction and every online retailer i have used are more than helpful when you have a problem, have everything I need and ask no questions when something is faulty. Even the decent bike shops in Dublin have screwed up the one or two things i have asked them to do. And chain reaction put a hell of a lot back into the sport as well. There are some bike shops that deserve business but the majority do not in my experience. And its not just bike shops. I bought a printer at christmas which was faulty and the shop assistant could see that. He wouldnt give a refund without sending it back to the manufacturer for testing and would only offer a credit not. Its nearly always that way. If that was purchased online from Amazon or pixmania, they would have taken it back no problems whatsoever and given a full refund. Online is winning because most of the time online shops are better. This nonsense that service from your local shop will be better is laughable. Most of the time they dont ever want to hear from you again once they have your money.

Good to see them (and others) riding down some legal trails for once. Watching DS loamers is getting a bit old. You get a better idea of the speed these guys go when you see them ripping down Incline.

Ken got screwed. Watch out Dunbar.
  • 3 0
Hehe Ken will be in the next one. He was over in NZ racing when this was filmed. Jamie Tice also was not in the vid as he lives in Ontario. Logistically was challenging to get such a large team together for filming, but Santos took it like a pro.
