Parkour Ride is coming to London in October 2014 http www.parkourride.com

October 4, 2014 will see a new multi-disciplinary bike race coming to London. Parkour Ride will pitch mountain bikers against BMX and road racers, both amateur and professional in a race up and down a multi-storey car park. With obstacles in place to offer short-cuts to the BMX and MTB riders (and potentially to brave/stupid roadies too), the event should weed out the best bike riders, not just the people who are fastest out the gate.

The format will see riders take part in a time trial with the aim of qualifying for an elimination tournament against pros such as BMX World Champion Liam Phillips. Organisers, FACE Partnership (also responsible for the London Nocturne road race), are promising more than just a bike race with DJs, bars, food and other attractions designed to keep the party going into the early hours.

Race entry costs £20 (which also includes your ticket to the event for those that don’t qualify) and is now open on www.parkourride.com. Places are limited to 200 and riders need to be over 18 to be eligible to race.

For those who prefer to watch bike racing and drink beer, spectator tickets are also available to buy online for £20. As an incentive to get them early there is no booking fee for tickets purchased before August 1st. Find out more and buy tickets on www.parkourride.com.

4th October 2014 – 18:00-23:30
Tobacco Docks, London E1

I'm a bit confused. Is this just a race up and down a multi storey car park?

Also, the wide bar trend did get a bit silly, but its way better than the narrow bar trend the fixie riders are going with

I was hoping it was some kinda bmx/street/parkour/mtb hybrid

Chris Froome may have a chance if indoors so no chance of wet cobbles?
No need for SEALED DRIVE if indoors?

Anyone else just watch the video and wonder what they were trying to advertise?

But even after reading the write up it failed to excite me

So is that road bikes or faggy fixie bikes? At least one rider had a helmet on in the promo vid. The organisers know what they are...

Does sound like a cool idea for an event, my fixie rider's hateing aside.

Can it be a hunt? Like 5 second head-start then catch the hipster twat on the fixie? Points for style e.g. "360 to HEADSHOT"...

I'll be racing my MTB (Nomad C 650b) and I'm currently trying to search for some semi-slick/street style tires. The problem is my wheel size. Any suggestions (other than changing my bike) are welcome?
