Cam McCaul Is "Action" Cam - Video

by Anthill Films

Possessing the ability to alter the force of gravity for no one but himself, Action Cam can fly like a flightless bird – that is – for short distances in a not-totally-awkward sort of way.

Action Cam is also somewhat OK at riding bikes most of the time. We caught him in a rare moment of grace at Blackrock, Oregon in our latest film.

These guys were so fun to work with. We at Black Rock were very impressed with their professionalism and respect for the forest. They left zero trace and are welcome back anytime. The edit is fantastic but be sure to stream at the highest rate you can.

These guys were awesome to deal with , class act and damn funny to. We would love to have them back anytime

I didn't know Sony made potatoes
  • + 14
Didn't know people still browsed the internet through a dial up modem. Must be hard Smile
  • + 12
@LiquidSpin: a lot of people browse the internet because they are hard
  • + 2
The video was sick! But why is there a 4k option.
  • + 3
@philipmcm: because Sony doesn't make potatoes
  • + 28
If Cam McCaul is clumsy, then I must be paraplegic.
  • + 22
Blackrock is a special place ..
  • + 17
Now that looks like Cam's actual vehicle. C'mon Cam we all knew you didn't drive a fancy new VW station wagon. We know the real deal when we see it. Excellent vid, great riding as always, cool behind the scenes stuff at the end.
  • + 15
Is that the new Volkswagon truck?
  • + 13
That bar spin fork mounted shot looking up at treeline was sick!
  • + 10
I like the edit and all that, but this ain't very good advertising for the Sony action cam quality is rubbish!
  • + 32
Try clicking an option above 144p then.
  • + 4
@rewob: I've got it highest it can go actually
  • + 13
Yea I just streamed it in 4K so maybe change your dial up speed? Wink
  • + 2
It looks dog shit to me too.
  • + 4
Looks great for me at 4k.... when it is paused. Needs 60 fps!
  • + 7
 No vw?
  • + 2
even at 1440p it looks pretty crispy on my crappy TN panel.
  • + 3
Seems to be set to a default low rez but if you change it the footy is nice.
  • + 2
@BedsideCabinet: Youtube's compression makes a lot videos look like shit
  • + 1
@GordonU: If I watch it now it's completely different, it looks really good.
  • + 5
yess I´ve always loved Cam´s videos. Such a relaxed guy with relaxed riding style, but his relaxed riding is s on a level that probably none of us will ever achieve.
  • + 1
I would be psyched if I could relax that hard. At anything.
  • + 5
 INSANE! Super creative shots!
  • + 2
 Man, love that place..

Wish I didn't have to pedal/push to the top, never got to experience a shuttle day there..

One day I hope..
  • + 1
I have done the shuttle day and it is highly recommended! Keep your eye on their website for shuttle day schedule this season. brmba.com.

I need to get back to black rock to hit up the salad tosser again. Need to link to the road gap.
  • + 0
It was so amazing to see Cam do his thing on the salad tosser when they were filming this. Made it look effortless. Super chill guy too, he came and joked with us between runs. One of the Anthill guys was there just to push Cam's bike back up the hill since Cam was too lazy to do it himself! (ha ha, you had to be there to get that)
  • + 2
I'll show you a salad tosser.
  • + 2
So are they using any stabilisation on the cameras of us just standard optical stabilisation that the Sony cam has built in?
  • + 2
I had this video muted but was watching this to listening to RZA-"Cant stop me now", it paired well with the riding.
  • + 1
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Loved the perspective changes and the edits. Nicely done. Cam is a huge dork. Very funny and a stylish rider! Moar!
  • + 1
funnest and awesomest footage I've seen for sometime guys . and obviously killer riding . simply top shelf(in Mr Howles voice from Giligans island)
  • + 3
I'll never read "action cam" the same way again
  • + 3
Um, left to right. Don't change it, it works.
  • + 2
WHAT? HE'S NOT IN A VOLKSWAGON?
  • + 1
Ya Cam!! Always love his riding/attitude! Another free rider keeping free ride alive! And that Tundra.. MMMM
  • + 2
Nice to hear some Uncle Acid
  • + 2
 That was really well done.
  • + 1
Why does watching it in 4k on my 4k monitor still look worse than 1080p (or even most 720p) gopro videos?
  • + 2
0:40 to 0:43 is the best shot ever!
  • + 2
guess he isn't rocking knock block on his bikes...
  • + 0
thats an old bike that he just rebuilt up not way too long ago.
  • - 2
It's a session. The session doesn't have knock block (yet). You can see the normal double crown fork bumpers on either side of the head tube.
  • + 0
@j-t-g: that explains that. i just hate on designs like knock block...

flag Kitejumping (Apr 13, 2017 at 16:13) (Below Threshold)
@j-t-g: from the shot at 1:59 with the bumpers it looks like a carbon session park, which is 26", knock block is a useless invention that has no place on anything other than maybe an xc bike.
  • + 2
@Kitejumping: Ya, it's a Session. Like I said. I made no comment on if knock block was good or not or had any place on a bike, so I'm not sure what you're inferring there.

The fork bumpers I'm talking about are exactly the ones you mentioned, which all sessions have for the dual crown forks.
  • + 2
@Kitejumping: Knockblock makes a lot of sense considering why they brought it out
  • + 0
@erwick: yes, it does make a lot of sense from a business standpoint, create a slightly different setup so people have to pay the bontrager tax to use other parts through an adapter, reminds me of giants overdrive steerer tube sizing.
  • + 2
Don't know why, but when I read your post all I heard was "knock rock blocking on heaven's do-o-or. Ya, ya, ya-ya-ya."

Weird.
  • + 1
@rrolly: I agree, if it was curved and again curved on the top of the berm it could be edited like "The Matrix" but just in a line?
  • + 1
POV angle was just low enough to make it a little nauseating. I know I'm not the only one who suffers from this.
  • + 1
You're my super hero, better than shitty Johnson.
  • + 1
It's not a VW advert!! HUSSAH!!!
  • + 1
whoat about VW?? broke down hehehe
  • + 1
Ahh I had almost forgotten what footage looked like in 2004
  • + 1
 WTF..How is that even possible?
  • + 1
epic, very creative and a lotta work it seems.
  • + 1
Why does this look so... jello-y?
  • + 1
At first it looked like a bunch of mailboxes on a board.
  • + 1
Haha what do you get with 20 cams on one corner?

Answer below
  • + 1
A shot that what was probably more effort than it was worth...Still pretty neat though
  • + 2
 My home trails!!
  • + 3
Lucky! I went to grad school at OSU and I miss riding that place and Mary's Peak so bad! Colorado is alright but nothing beats the PNW!
  • + 2
@LOTCP Lucky bastard. I only rode there once but it's an amazing spot. Made my butt pucker in many places though Smile
  • + 1
@Dustfarter: I work in the Carolinas half the year and the article right after this one hightlights my "other" home trail system; Issaqueena aka Clemson Experimental Forest. What a weird weird day on PB. I broke a clavicle on the mini DH run at Issa back in '11.
  • + 1
 Blackrock is pretty sick.
  • + 1
1000x better than that "Bootleg Benduro" edit yesterday
  • + 1
Blackrock is a magical place.......need to go back very soon
  • - 1
Haha isnt ""advertising"" supposed to make you wanna buy the product ? Video quality was... disapointing
  • + 2
Yeah man, I let it load at 1080 forever and it's still crazy grainy. Other 1080 videos work fine. Not sure what's up with it.
  • + 1
 Best POV edit ever!!!
  • + 1
 UNCLE ACID!!
  • + 0
 that was awesome!
  • - 2
Is this Video old or why is Cam riding an 2016 Slash Frame ?
  • + 1
 Proly wants smaller wheel size
  • + 1
He uses it as his freeride bike and I think it's a 26er
  • + 2
Not a slash, its a custom Session Park with a single crown fork!
  • + 2
 @senior-jesticle: ok you`re right !
