Man it's sad to see so many sore losers here.. You say it's scripted, I like to think I'm just grateful. I'm a new member here because I recently have been able to get back into the sport after life forced me to sell my epic and my slayer. I guess luck was on my side. You can say it's UnReal Wink The bike is on back order, but when I get it in January I'll be sure to post plenty of pictures.

I just noticed you're from Vacaville. Don't worry, I don't want to be your bro! I just want to assure the rest of PB Global that people from Vacaville are more likely to be checking out the outlet mall for deals on kid's shoes than participating in an international marketing black-op. Enjoy the bike!! F the haters.

I just picked up a lightly used bike for my younger brother - his first bike since the late 80s. It's a Lapierre Zesty 527. Sheesh. Tough, huh?
  • 7 3
You bought... for your brother... nice of you. I don't have a younger brother. Don't have someone else buying me bikes. What's your point? @sngltrkmnd
  • 10 1
Sorry I phrased that poorly. My bro gave money to find him a bike and I found him a great deal on a pretty swanky bike. My point was the Remedy winner is starting out with a really sweet bike, and so is my brother, that's all.
  • 73 27
That thankyou speech was straight out of the anthill bros handbook, the guy has no pics, likes or anything on his profile other than his slogan saying he rides this bike... I smell massive bs!!! Faking giving a bike away just to get publicity is basically fraud - id like to see a photo of the guy with the bike, info about him, and proof he's not on any of the involved parties payrolls... This thing seems to happen a lot on these marketing giveaways!
  • 14 6
hmmmm it is odd isn't it...

Gave the guy a follow. If I were him, I'd be posting this bike the second I got it showing it off. Time will tell.
  • 9 7
"I really don't know" - magic words. If only more people would say them, at least to one situation per day, where doubt itches as much as little evidence is out there - world would be a better place. Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore, let it go, let it gooo, go ahead and close that door, here I staaand...
  • 4 3
I made this very same reference in a forum a little while back, no one got it. Great job.
  • 5 1
A trail builder with slang like that and didnt have a PB profile till he won.........
  • 13 2
I'm not so concerned about a conspiracy. Just because he doesn't post on social media doesn't mean he works for the promoter. I rarely post on social media, and almost never like anything or put up photo's of my riding. Most of my friends are the same way (as far as I know). If I won the bike, I wouldn't necessarily want a bunch of info about me being put out there. I think the winner was someone who just isn't a big social media guy.

It's easy to think everyone uses a website the same way you do, but for me I just watch videos and read comments 99% of the time.
  • 9 0
Don't be so quick to judge dude. If you look at his recent forum posts you will see that he is getting back into the sport. If the two numbers at the end of his name are anything to go by, he could be 60years old - hence only making an account for the competition to try his luck at the bike because he is looking at purchasing one. Don't make something sour for someone when it could be so sweet.
  • 8 2
Yeah... haven't seen any scams yet. What I have seen is a whole lot of sore losers crying foul when they don't win. Seriously, if all you got to go on is a vague feeling that something might be wrong, you should just stfu till you know more.

congratulations John! i might know what you have felt, when you recieved a message about your luck. like "wtf? no way it is happening. not with me". i've been there... i won a Santa Cruz Nomad at Juice Lubes frame competition early in this year. with this unthinkable luck, Karma worked for me well, she balanced the loss i've suffered when my Tomac Vanish has been stolen(vanished, eh?).
enjoy your new ride!

At least he sounds like he's going to use it. More bike companies should do international contest like this one! Ups to Trek for including everyone. Sweet bike and I'm sure the exposure drove a lot of traffic to their site too.

Oh well maybe my plea for a new bike will spur a Christmas present Smile since mine was stolen out of my shop in May. I'm stuck with a bmx and no money for a 3 to 4 grand rig! Missing out on the trail network here in Hope bc as well as Vedder!

Excellent! Well done johnmoore55; enjoy the ride!!

Oooh, and PB, could I politely ask for some information please, and make a request for the future.

The rules of this competition stated that:

"This promotion is open worldwide with exceptions. The laws in some places don’t allow Teton Gravity Research and Pinkbike to run this promotion, in which case the promotion and these conditions of entry are void in those places."

Very clear (ish); thanks. I would like to know though (I asked but no-one told me www.pinkbike.com/u/anthill/blog/enter-to-win-an-unreal-trek-remedy-98.html ) , exactly which territories that included.

Why? Well, let's let Teton and PB explain.

"I agree that the information I am sending to Teton Gravity Research and Pinkbike shall become the property of Teton Gravity Research, Pinkbike and Trek Bikes. I do not retain any rights in the property and agree that Teton Gravity Research, Pinkbike and Trek Bikes have no obligation whatsoever regarding this property (including no obligation to return the property, no obligation to use or not use the property, no obligation to pay for the property). I further agree that sending this information to Teton Gravity Research, Pinkbike and Trek Bikes confer no obligation of confidentiality or secrecy regarding the information."....

...which we all know (or should know) means that we are handing over an e-mail address that we will let Teton Gravity Research and PB do with what they will. All's fair in love and internet marketing; that is how it works right? Right. No complaints there. After all, we read the rules and accept the increase in junk mail. It is a fair trade off for the chance to win a frame... assuming of course that we do not live in one of those territories. If we did, we'd just end up with more mail.

So, PB, if you could let the users know exactly where "worldwide" means and list any exceptions to that in any competitions please in future; it'll save some of us in those areas not only time (albeit a little) but also future e-mail we, in all honesty, probably don't really want anyways.

And, of course, stop crazies like me from imagining obviously stupid, crazy ideas like... "Those territories then... they wouldn't have been "anywhere outside USA and Canada" would they by any chance?" Crazy idea I know, yet that is how some idiots might read it.

Cheers PB. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Honestly I doubt it's even valid throughout all of Canada, Quebec is often excluded from these competitions due to strict language laws.
  • 2 1
I don't have an enduro bike that's why I registered here but there isn't much luck in me. I badly want an enduro bike because I play enduro with XC bike and that won't work well with me. The reason behind is that we don't have the funds to build or buy an enduro bike. So congrats John. I hope you'll enjoy riding your new bike. Happy Biking! Big Grin

 1. This is a marketing scheme to get member emails so that they can spam you with adverts. You will see! 2. Trek can do better. One bike is peanuts to them. The 9.8 Remedy isn't even full carbon. I would rather rock a Intense, Santa Cruz or Pivot for the same price or less with better spec and full carbon frame. 3. Congrats to the winner! Hope he doesn't end up selling the bike like he did last time. Nice story though.
