Every so often, an event happens in nature that is so profound, it belies the very foundation of reality. This is the stuff of legends and lore, a rare phenomenon that may only happen once in a lifetime. In order to witness such an event, we must suspend our judgement of what we think we know. We must let go, look to the sky, and believe.
Teton Gravity Research and Anthill Films reimagine the ultimate skier’s dream—a powder day—in mountain biking terms. Dirt falls from the sky like powder snow, while ecstatic riders play across a magical landscape. For riders Thomas Vanderham, Matty Miles, Ian Morrison, and Finn Iles, the Dirt Blizzard was something that they once could only dream about… until now. The filming of Dirt Blizzard can be described as a true climax in the history of action-sports cinematography. UnReal is being called the ultimate conjunction of athletic prowess and jaw-dropping cinematography, and no segment of the film highlights this better than “Dirt Blizzard”, a visual feast at the film’s end.
unReal is being released globally today on DVD and Blu-Ray and is available through online retailers: Pinkbike, Tetongravity.com, Amazon.com, Backcountry.com, and iTunes.
unReal is for those of us who escape. A film that celebrates breaking free from the confines of reality and venturing into a boundless world. This place isn’t remote or hard to find, and yet many never see it. Here, glacial walls transform into mountain bike trails, rain and snow aren’t the only elements to fall from the sky and thousand pound mammals become riding partners. Breathtaking visuals conjure feelings of awe and pure joy; feelings that only those of us who venture outside can truly understand. This film is dedicated to you — the dreamers, the rule-breakers, the ones who never grow up, the ones who know the secret — the ones who know the way into the unReal world.
Riders: Brandon Semenuk, Brett Rheeder, Cam McCaul, Graham Agassiz, Steve Smith, Tom van Steenbergen and Thomas Vanderham, with Brook Macdonald Finn Iles, Ian Morrison, James Doerfling, Matty Miles and friends
Apparently it was peat moss, they depleted the Pacific Northwest's supply of the stuff so much that the retailers refused to sell to Anthill after the initial shoot.... Holy shit, it's like a biker's wet dream!!!!
This film is the GOLD STANDARD of mountain bike films. You gotta have good story and filmmaking to go with the sick bike footage. Seeing it the first show opening night made it even better. Congrats @anthill and @TGR!!!
Pretty sure they are giving out a couple of parts purely to convince the people to buy the whole movie, who haven't been convinced yet.
Even though I was really stoked by the trailer, I haven't bought it yet. But seeing these 2 parts got me even more stoked than the trailer did and really makes me concider purchasing it. Pretty sure this is exactly what they are out for, and it is working
I think everyone that likes the look should just buy it. Its like £10. Thats not a huge amount when you consider grips cost more. Its not a huge hollywood company and things like slow mo cameras are expensive even just to hire. Pay your money, support people doing great things we could only dream of, and be lucky were not still in the vhs era
I saw it on itunes, now I am ordering the BluRay. Anything I can do to help support this kind of film making within mountain biking, I will do. Congrats Teton/Anthill, excellent job.
how cool would it be to see this take place at val di sole or somewhere similair. The dirt would cushoin enough to make it feel like your riding gnarly ski moguls. They should relaese a new brown pow segment every month at new locations. All of us familiar with bone dry hard as rock bike park trails, this is heaven.
Love the people compaining about free movie segments and too much slomo from perhaps the best mtb movie ever made... This is the only mtb movie my wife asks me to put on in the background while we hang out. Our 2 year old son loves it to--switches between mesmerized state and crazy dancing. The movie really doesn't have a ton of riding because of the flow of the story combined with copious amounts of juicy slomo but it doesn't really matter cuz this vid is all quality over quantity. The general theme/message of the movie is just really cool too and inspires you to just get outside and play!! Buy it! Support the awesome athletes and filmakers.
Taking the fake roost cliche in MTB films to a whole new level!
Jokes aside, you'd be hard pushed to get more stylish riders together and it's a flippin' creative concept
If you are non apple folk and want to buy this movie, get it through vimeo and not google play store. play store had drm and cannot be owned away from an android device. its a $ or 2 more but. I am tiked that i bought builder via play.
It's a natural phenomenon, called 'iocus',that very rarely happens in some parts of the world. Averagely once every 50 years, Last summer I was at the Amalfi Coast in Iltaly and it rained dirt all week. Planned to go for a beach holiday but decided to rent a bike and shred the mountains all day every day.
last time i checked there's a couple more than two segments in the movie, I'm no mathematic super start or nothing but i think you're a whiney little bitch...
Not sure why you'd regret supporting these guys anyways. With the insane amount of time and effort they put into this stuff I'm more than happy to pay a few bucks to see it. It's well deserved.
@VPPFREEDOM I think you're a genius dude... You sure told me!
I was happy to buy the film too, I know it isn't likely but if they were to upload the whole film piece by piece I would think other people would feel like they'd been robbed too. Guess not

Pretty sure it was Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky
I believe!

and for a different version... probably one of the most bizarre covers by one of the most bizarre bands ever. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTlv6OL0tc4
