Bike Ahead Composites

Remember Spinergy, and Mag BMX wheels? Large spoked wheels are not a new concept and carbon versions have never been affordable. This new wheelset from Bike Ahead Composites is hand laid in Veitshöcheim, Germany. The six-spoke biturbo wheels come in an 'RS' model and 'E' version. The heavier biturbo-E wheelset pictured is designed to meet the higher loads associated with eMTB, but still weigh a svelte 1349 grams per pair in 27.5", and 1459 grams in 29".

Boost standards and hub sizes don't affect the design of the biturbo wheels, but all widths are available front and rear including Lefty, RS-1 and standard bolt-thru. Shimano or SRAM XD drivers and 6-bolt or center lock.

Bike Ahead Composites

If Enve's wheels on King hubs are too popular and too affordable for you, these should fit the bill hitting your wallet with a €3299 price tag.

Bike Ahead also make carbon handlebars and seat posts with NSA technology, not no-strings-attached, but No-Slip Application. The NSA is a rubberized compound that is molded into the carbon and helps to dissipate clamping force, alleviate the need for carbon slip, and prevent any creaking. The bars come in a variety shapes and sizes, including strong back sweeps of 8.5º, 10º and 13º, widths range from 720mm - 800mm. Just like their wheels, saving grams is a focus and weights start at 139g and rise up to 179g. Also just like the wheels, they are not wallet friendly costing €239.

Those were great wheels. Still available too for about $350 a pair. These wheels look beautiful but the price is out of my league and the name is horrible.
  • 3 0
so what the heck does "biturbo" refer to in the name? the fact that there are two wheels and they ...eerm.. look like turbines?
  • 2 0
Wouldn't these ride rough as hell being an non forgiving material with a non forgiving design?
Think I'll just stick with spokes and save myself a few thousand dollars, too.
  • 1 0
So 3200euro, 1400g and probably strong enough for a weak light rider on a heavy bike or a really strong heavier rider on a light bike. Still cheaper than an ENVE wheelset. Sounds good to me.
