People often ask me why I do what I do or what's the point of putting my body into such extreme physical exertion. I think this is why.
I originally didn't have any idea what I was going to do for summer solstice, which is also my birthday every year, but the idea of having both events land on a Saturday, I knew I had to plan something. I couldn't go on some long mountain epic adventure since my trail bike was in warranty with Kona (Hint Hint Wink Wink, Kona, please fix my bike soon) but I knew I could take all my other noble steeds out for the day. A quick text to my riding buddies the night before and a plan was quickly drafted.
6:29am - A little later after sunrise and the car is packed as the sun peaks over the neighbour's roof
7:24am - It's already feeling hot as the sun shines on the skatepark. My attempt at self-filming. And yes, I do kind of suck at the skatepark
11:36am - Quick training session for work and my coworkers bring out ice cream cake
2:25pm - Mountain bike ride at the watershed. Both Bernie and Simon lead the way on their trail bikes as I do my best to keep up on the dirt jumper. (Again, Kona, please take note I need my bike back)
5:39pm - One big bowl of pho. If you don't know what pho is, you really need to get out more.
7:09pm - Last round with Connor on the skinny tires
9:47pm - Broke the golden rule and went to drown ourselves in fat
0:00am - Thanks to these two for taking me on the best summer solstice adventure so far and to all the guys that spent it with me.
Until next year.
