Bike For Cancer.

by alex c.
The Begining:
Since the begining of last summer i was thinking of what i could do for a bike. I wanted to have a good cause for the bike, so i chose Cancer Awareness. That is when i started to think of how i could do a bike for Cancer Awareness and still have a bike i can ride, so i decided that i would make the bike for All Kinds of Cancer Awareness. However, having a pink bike isn't really doing anything for Cancer, so i was thinking throughout the summer what i could do. Then i got an idea, I decided that i was going to do a race for Cancer, so everybody who wants to race would donate at least $5 or more to get in. The people who come in first, second, and third would get trophies/metals. Then all proceeds go to Cancer. Midway through the summer i found what i was looking for.
The Build:
That is when i found a frame here on PinkBike that would work perfectly for what i needed, I didnt even need to re-paint it because it was already pink. Once I ordered the frame i started to save my money for the rest of the parts, i decided that i wasn't going to rush the build aspect of it. I wanted something to repersent what Cancer Patients go threw. I wanted it to be strong, and i didnt want it to be the newest best thing, but i didnt want anything really old either. So i decided something between 2006-2009, I ended up with a 2007 Trek session 10. But anybody could get a stock bike and re-paint one part of it. So the only thing stock on it is the headset. So the build spec is the following:

2007 Trek session 10 frame
Cane Creek double barrel 10" rear shock
Chris King ISO hubs
Avid x0/cr carbon/straitline brakeset
Raceface atlas handlebar
Chromag stem
Mavix 721 rims
Rockshox Boxxer r2c2 fork
maxxis dh-r tires
continental racing tubes
Thomson seatpost
Togia spyder seat
Podi grips
Crankbrother mallet clipless pedals
X9 rear d
X7 rear shifter
Pg907 chain

Race:
I know some of you will want to compete in the race i will be doing, so i will put something out for the details on the race later on, and when i know i will be doing it.
Thanks:
I wanted to say thanks to everybody that helped with this and a special thanks to the people who helped out on my forum. And thank you for support the idea of this bike and the racing that will be soon to come.
Thanks Alex C.
