On our winter travels we were able to stop by the Kali Protectives facilities in Morgan Hill California. They have a few products that are worth looking at and they have some new products that look very promising for the near future.

A sneak peak at the new XC helmet, composite fusion equipped. Looking good.

Kali being a newer company in the protectives industry have been making a big push in cycling protectives. They have come up with what they call composite fusion. Composite fusion is a way of getting rid of the air gap between the outer shell and the inner foam liner. They came up with a way to inject the inner foam in to the outer shell. By doing this they were able to make there helmets safe and light, the best of both worlds. Then came composite fusion plus. This is a dual density inner foam. The softer foam along with what I call cones is closest to your head and the firmer foam is against the outer shell. All being fused together. The result of composite fusion plus is a safer and lighter helmet yet. When your helmet recieves an impact the force of the impact gets spread to a wider area as a result of the dual density foam and the cones inside. Thus reducing impact to your head, which is always a good idea.

Amy is wearing the plus part of composite fusion plus with the cones. She is standing in the demo room with all there demo helmets.

The guys at Kali have also been working hard on there soft shell knee pads, back protectors, body armor and chest protectors. New for this year they have come out with a soft knee/shin in two different lengths. They look good and cover up those scared up shins.
