The tape is strung, the course is set, and we're ready for a great weekend of Canada Cup Downhill racing here at the Blue Mountain Bike Park. Take a ride along with Trail Crew's Tyler Maxwell, and check out this year's course.

Section 1 - Worst Case Ontario

Riders will have time for a few quick pedal strokes out of the gate before they hit the first drop and hard right corner. A quick ski hill crossing is following by a couple rocky and rooty rollers where we're sure to see quite a few people gapping.

Section 2 - Rock Lobster

Trail Crew spent a day beefing up the rock garden, and it has never looked better. An off-camber left turn out of the rocks will send riders over the first of two rock jumps. The first has been built up with the help of a couple wooden bridges, while the second has been left "au natural".

Section 3 - Galloping Goose

The high outside lines through this section are a web of off-camber roots, while the inside lines are fairly flat and worn in. With the forecast shaping up to stay dry throughout the weekend, we'll have to see which route riders are favouring.

Section 4 - Down to Flow

After another ski hill crossing, the course ducks back into the woods. Riders will have to set their speed in a root-filled braking zone before they dive into a series of three tight, steep berms.

Section 5 - Skid Richilds

Out of the berms and into the steepest section of the course. It's taped wide through here with a choice between two main lines. One is straight down but doesn't line up very well with the exit berm, while the other will take a little bit more effort to get to but might give riders a bit more speed on the exit.

Section 6 - Cowboy Corners

After navigating a short, rutted-out straightway, the course flows into a couple of berms that could have only been crafted by the most majestically maned member of Trail Crew.

Section 7 - Saddleback Ridge

Buckle up and hold onto your horse! This steep straightaway is off camber and rooty, with the option of a little gap for anyone who wants to skip some of the rough stuff.

Section 8 - The Docks

Riders will get a bit of a break with two man-made bridges, followed by a couple of fresh clay berms. Expect this section to get faster and faster as the weekend progresses.

Section 9 - Ivy Helmet

Back into the woods for the final time. Nothing too gnarly in here, but racers will have to be careful not to let the roots on the inside of the last two corners catch them off guard.

Section 10 - Stingin' Thicket

The final straightaway before the end of the woods. The jump over the fallen tree on rider's left will get a lot of use, but riders will have to watch their speed as the corner on the exit has no berm to help catch them.

Section 11 - Fat and Sassy

Who doesn't love a couple good high-speed, grassy flat turns? This will be a proper loose and dusty end to the race course.

Never seen a race so short with so many names! Almost every turn is a new section! Glad to see the Canada Cup back in Ontario again.

Well that's Ontario MTB for ya. The "Worst Case".

Still a good lookin' course for what they have to work with. Just needs some booters at the bottom instead of all that lame ass grass.

@Trials-FTW: You should have been there to ride the "lame ass grass". It was actually one of the toughest high speed turns on the track.....

I am pretty friggin impressed with this course! Riders are stoked and the track is fun. Organization for the event is pretty chaotic though..

There should be some more race footage coming out over the next couple days as we get it from the videographers

@bluemtnbikepark: Will it be on Blu's site or Pinkbike?

@SomeGuy30: We'll get a blog post going on here with a wrap report, and will try to get links shared out on the Bike Park Facebook page.

How much of this will remain open after the race?

The only sections that are not part of the trail on a regular basis are the "Stingin' Thicket" and the "Fat and Sassy" corners.

 @bluemtnbikepark:

sorry, should have clarified, I mean will the end remain or just stay in the trees and hook up with Showcase.

Will probably stay in the trees and hook up with showcase.
