Eagle Bike Park in Idaho - Progress for 2009
We wanted to show everyone the progress made in 2009 at the Eagle Bike Park in Eagle Idaho (Boise area). Thanks to grants from Bikes Belong and Lowe's, we were able to install a few more trails this year.
A big thank you to Bikes Belong for a $10,000 trail building grant. We combined this grant with a $4,800 supplies donation from Lowe's to build two new trails and some new expert dirt jumps this year. Thanks to all the volunteers as well who have put in close to 9000 hours of work since this project started. The local riders have really stepped up along with several local organizations. Volunteers from the Ada County juvenile court system, Lowe's, REI, SWIMBA, Boy Scouts, Idaho Youth Ranch, and the Boise State TRIO youth program have all pitched in.

This new site has a calendar for events, an interactive map with videos and pictures of trails, info about visiting the park, a blog, and other pages under construction.
The main additions to the park this year include a (0.8 mile/1.3km) downhill trail called "Shake and Bake" and a (0.8 mile/1.3km) freeride trail called "Stormin' Mormon". We also built some expert dirt jumps this year. Here are some pictures and videos showing the new stuff.
If you're wondering why the landscape in this video looks like Tolkien's Mordor - we had a brush fire at the park this summer that killed off a bunch of 200 year old sagebrush. Luckily, our mini excavator was parked in a small excavated area and the flames went right around it.

In addition to the new dh/freeride/dj stuff, a short track XC race course was installed and the skinny tire group also installed a cyclocross race course. The competition scene at the park now includes 4X, dual slalom, downhill, dirt jump, XC, short track XC, and cyclocross.

This is the 1st drop out of 3 on the Stormin Mormon freeride trail. We constructed the drops using galvanized steel with Trex type decking - should be solid for years to come.
