2017 Red Bull Rampage Date Announced

Brandon Semenuk on a flat spin mid way down and on his way to his second win at Rampage to join in with Strait and Sorge s two timer club.

On October 27th, 2017, Red Bull Rampage will once again descend on the rugged landscapes of Virgin, Utah. 21 of the world's best freeriders will vie for the top of the podium, including previous two-time winners who could make it a hat-trick this year: Brandon Semenuk, Kurt Sorge, and Kyle Strait.


The venue is the same as in 2016, and last year's much-lauded improvements to the format will be in place this year as well. Each rider can bring a 2 person build crew: hand-tools only, 4 days of building, then 4 days of practice. On top of that, an additional ridge will be opened up for the riders. There are some tough line-choices ahead!

 Watched the build up to a Rampage following Kelly around for 72 hours on Red bull tv the other day. So good. Really showed what it takes.

 Zink, Vink, Vinny T, Pescetto, Aggy, Doerfling, Reynolds, Norbs, Fairclough, Rheeder. Don't care much for Metaillier, was interesting watching him race the course last year but I'd prefer more style! Also tough choice between Rheeder and Rogatkin, but IMO Rheeder is better on a DH bike than Rogatkin.

 I actually don't think rogatkin would be there. I talked to him last year at highland (after rampage) and he said he didn't do it because it was a more technical venue. He said he preferred big jumps and drops, rather than tech.

 How is every list going to leave off Jordie Lunn? He by far had the gnarliest freeride edit this year (IMO). You know he's got the skills and the cojones. I mean, I'd put him above several of this list for the fact that they have had too many meh runs in previous years, but hey, opinions are like a*sholes, f' em.

 Why Remi? i really dont get it, as i enjoy his riding, he has skill, but not for rampage, it should not be about racing but about tricks! Get Rheeder there, also i dont get PEF, he smashes and i respect him, but c'mon him over rheeded, zink or aggy? wtf world

 @Legis: You forget that Gee Atherton, Cedric Gracia, and even Bearclaw has taken that speed into their runs. basically "racing" into their lines show confidence and above all else, skill. All of these guys have shown this tactic can carry you far. Rampage has 4 categories, style/tricks is only 25 points of the 100 point score.

(Bearclaw in 08, qualifying, charged into lines, where 10 other guys were rolling a feature into a drop, he sent it and made the line a double drop. )

 @SnowshoeRider4Life: Sure stuff, 2015 Andreu run was something else with his speed! And bearclaw is a bad example of pure speed guy Big Grin , i mean that guys like Aggy and Zink should always come before Remi their runs will be bangers for sure, and Remis? Not much.
Of course we do have to remember that even making way down there is sick achievement but i prefer it with combination of speed, style and trickery not only the speed

 @SnowshoeRider4Life: Aye, my point is i want more freeriders in, it is their event, made for them and the only place where they can show off their skills, there were cool freeride events before but they are dead now, red bull is last event in a form of competition left for them Smile

 ARE WE FORGETTING THE BIG QUESTION?
Will a "live event" format be used? One that years prior has left athletes choosing between dropping in and crashing, or forfeiting during dangerous weather.

 Why can't they have a lower production level live event and then a full blown edited version. I know there has been talk of it's too expensive to do it over multiple days but they pull off live broadcasts for surfing events who are called on of off the day of the event. And they are sometimes in fairly remote spots.

Steady, big title sponsors on that series, different(sponsor) each round.
Helos are very expensive and wsl doesnt really use them unless im mistaken...using drones.

 @jrocksdh: yes but they also build big scaffolds on the reef. Not saying it's as expensive but its also over weeks sometimes so I bet it's much cheaper. And your saying Quicksilver and people like that are significantly bigger than Red Bull?

 Yes, Casey Brown! Free ride slope style needs women. My 8yo daughter is always complaining how come there are no female slope style riders? She wants to be the first. She calls herself "Chloe Crusher"! Little girl with big dreams. It would be great to see at least one woman in the line up. That said... I also vote to bring on the Rat!
