Manufacturer Switches to Threaded Bottom Bracket, Pinkbike Commenter Does Not Purchase as Promised

No sale.

POTTERSVILLE, NEW JERSEY — Struggling to hold back tears as he moved the cursor away from the Buy Now button, Pinkbike user @urbanhukk69 was reportedly filled with deep shame as, breaking his word to a bicycle manufacturer, he chose not to purchase a bike.

Months earlier, the Pottersville, New Jersey community college prospect and bandana enthusiast had logged onto mountain bike website Pinkbike.com, read about a new bike from Reck Cycles, and commented "put a real BB on it and I would get one.kill pressfit!!!!"

Urbanhukk69 doesn t like press fit BBs.

The bike's manufacturer, reading this comment and realizing the error of their ways, immediately stopped production. In a bold, principled decision that risked the anger of their distributors, retailers, customers who had pre-ordered the bike, and environmentalists, the first production run was pushed off the container ship from Taiwan directly into the ocean. The manufacturer then undertook a lengthy redesign process to accommodate the superior threaded bottom bracket standard, and went through several rounds of testing and recertification.

Six months later, after re-shooting the catalogue and launch video, the brand re-invited 23 members of the press to Socotra, one of the most remote islands in the world, to show them the same bike that, with a new bottom bracket shell, was entirely different. The press, understandably, lauded their courageous, groundbreaking design, giving the bike rave reviews and immediately putting it at the top of their Must Buy lists.

The NSA reports that @urbanhukk69 was initially ecstatic as he read the glowing First Look article by Pinkbike's Paul Aston, but that his demeanour changed gradually, he began sobbing quietly, and did not purchase the bike as he'd promised to do.
Socotra
Travel to Socotra takes nearly 4 days, and all cycling media unanimously agreed it was worth it.

Upon hearing of this betrayal, Buff Stayber, CEO of Reck Cycles issued a statement.

bigquotesWe take consumer feedback very seriously, so we read the news of a Pinkbike commenter not keeping his word with profound disappointment. This individual clearly has no respect for the integrity of comments made on the internet—the very foundation of our society. Despite this, our commitment to do whatever people tell us to do remains unwavering.Buff Stayber, CEO of Reck Cycles

@Joebohobo: Maybe I have high standards for sarcasm, but by my count pinkbike is now 0 for 10 on funny April fools article's this year. Stop swinging at whiffle balls and give us some legitimate EWS coverage.

" the comments made on the internet- the very foundation if our society" if this is true we are all failures. i seen some of the nastiest most ignorant things commented on the internet. Despite what someone's profile says they could be anyone who knows nothing. Rather attack some one for just making a statement that should have been taking with a grain of salt. No other person thought that there might be a better bb. It took one random person to say the won't buy because of thw type of bb just seems crazy to me. People designing these bikes should have confidence in their product and not reinvent the wheel because of one comment.

Nice, but you forgot to mention urbanhukk69 landing a seven figure contract to design all the new bikes for the whole bike industry and to designate all new standards because he so obviously knows more about bikes than anyone who actually designs and builds them.
