by Tyler Maine
The Teva Best Trick Showdown is a peer-judged, two-session, best trick jam where the winner of each session comes away with $4,000

Session #1:

In Session One everyone was just getting warmed up when Jordie Lunn launched a huge corked 720. Lunn’s trick held it’s own against impressive tricks from other riders including Jack Fogelquist, Martin Soderstrom, Yannick Granieri and Thomas Genon. For his efforts early on in the game Lunn rode away with $4,000.

Damnit!! Fogel should've won that was the only ever done flip one foot x-up to tailwhip
  • 13 1
 agree
  • 12 1
 Fogel ftw for sure
  • 7 2
 totally agree!
  • 6 0
so did tom get on redbull?
  • 10 2
ok where the hell is Mike M??? anybody want to enlighten me?
  • 8 1
 Fogel should have won it
  • 2 1
@ NorCalikonaryder Mike is out with a broken wrist, but he should be back soon
  • 9 1
Agreed semenuk has been throwing cork 720s in full runs. insane trick but not enough to win.

It was an oppo corked 7 so I think that's enough to win
  • 5 1
i think it wasnt oppo. he is just riding goofy. fogel ftw... he should defenetly have won it.
  • 3 2
yeah fogel nailed it but first thing: it wasn't clean enough and second thing is: a one footed x-up isn't that impressive compared to a barspin!
  • 6 1
I was rather disappointed with the whole contest, in the fact that there were only about 4 riders actually going for it, would have been sick to see more riders and more new tricks
  • 1 0
i agree sionr. it was cool but i was expecting a bit more from the best trick contest at the biggest event of the year. most of the riders saving themselves for the joyride i suppose
  • 3 0
Maybe Crankworx should start inviting riders that actually want to be there. Seemed like most weren't really into it.
  • 24 1
What did van Steezburger pull on the second one? Video screwed me over in the latter half.

Also, how did the flip-one-foot-x-up-to-tailwhip not win the first feature? That's off the chain, and Jordie did the corked 7/3-flip years ago, at the first Bearclaw Invitational.
  • 9 0
Steezburger chucked a nice Frontflip tuck no-hander. Smile
  • 4 2
It doesn't matter that he already did the trick, its still a gnarly trick that only him a few others can do. Who knows though, none of us can compare either of those tricks to anything because we can't do them, haha.

And is it becoming a habit with Red Bull to have their feeds shut down in the last parts?
  • 4 0
It didnt for me, sometimes it glitches a bit but i just refresh the page an it works fine.
  • 6 1
Remember that best trick is RIDER judged. They obviously thought Jordie's trick was bigger/harder.
  • 14 8
yeah, try to do a backflip one foot xup to late tailwhip... its way more technical than landing a sketchy cork 720 that only needs a few runs on the foampit... neg props me if you want but who knows, knows
  • 9 1
I'm glad you know better than the rest of the athletes in the comp. Guys like Soderstrom, AT, Lacondeguey, Granieri etc.
  • 4 2
Konanemia- When Jordie learned that trick foam pits were rare, even harder to find now-a-days. I doubt he used one to learn that trick. Also, have you done either one of those tricks because you're making some audacious claims...
  • 8 2
yeah.... but Crankworx best trick is kinda the mountain bike equivalent to X-games Moto Best trick..... Be honest we were all expecting some brand new exciting shit to come out (Eg benny phillips last year) ... and although a cork 7 is a hard trick to pull we have all seen it before.... Im with harriieee and Konanemia more points should have been given for originality!!
  • 3 0
this was a rider judged event!
  • 10 1
anthony gets soo much attention just because he is 16! does anyone else realize that tom is the same age as anthony and gets no credit at all for how young he is!
  • 2 1
jordie has been doing it (corked 720) since 06, I think he deserves it-it was huuuge
  • 2 3
Fogel's been doing his flip one-foot x-up to tailwhip since yesterday, that should've won
  • 3 5
by that logic I could learn one handers 5 minutes before the show and win because i havent been doing it for long.
  • 2 0
yea my point was that fogels trick won by creativity and technicality. a one hander is a trick almost everyone can do, fogels was the only time anyone has done it
  • 17 1
Flip one footed x to whip should have taken it! That was so sick though can't wait for Joyride.
  • 16 1
Flip one foot x to whip should have definatley won on the first jump!
  • 2 0
 He went HAM
  • 9 0
Fogel was robbed!!! And Van steezbergen def rocked it with the tuck fronty to stomped landing
  • 7 1
I wish Fogel had won! 360 flips are cool but fogels trick was way more original

Its a corked 7... not even close to a flip 3
  • 3 0
I think they should do best trick AFTER Red Bull Joyride. That way, I think, bigger tricks will be thrown because they wouldn't have to risk getting hurt before the big event. Still amazing stuff being thrown down, just my opinion.
  • 1 0
Pretty much the 1 thing done wrong in every North American slopestyle. Get the big show out of the way then a chance for everyone to have a go at winning a bit extra makes it go off!
  • 5 0
Its still rider judged? So I guess they know best which trick deserves the win - excited to see the slopestyle, it will be massive!
  • 6 1
I think that Jamie Goldman was completely robbed, the heel clicker should have won : )
  • 2 0
I loved the old school big bike airs he was throwing and making them look pretty good. Props to the man for sure.
  • 4 0
The heelclicker photo subtext should read, "staying limber with yoga position's while airborne greatly reduces risk of serious injury."
  • 5 0
soderstrom's last tuck 3 was soooo sick
  • 5 0
To bad Benny Phillips wasn't able to compete get well soonSmile
  • 4 0
 Eat your porridge Jordie!
  • 5 0
 LUNN BACK IN THE GAME
  • 3 1
i swear to god they need to make a Brad Ewing sound board or something cause the shit that guy sais is hilarious!
  • 2 0
A flip one foot x-up to tailwhip is such a Fogel trick.
  • 3 0
 that was sweet Smile
  • 6 8
Soderstrom definitely deserved the second round with that 360 tuck no-hander. No disrespect to Van Steenbergen, but adding that rotational force to a step down that big, while also extending and holding his arms out as long as he did seems much more impressive to me.
  • 6 0
Competitions like this can be a tough call for the win. I like the way they gave out 50's cuz all the riders really deserve somthin for throwing down like that. Its also great how they had peer judging for this event.
  • 6 1
You sir are an idiot. A front flip off a drop that big is waayyyy harder..
  • 11 0
And diving headfirst into a blind flip off a 20ft. step down, with your hands off the bars, sounds slightly more impressive to me, haha.
  • 1 0
Love the heal clicker from Jamie! Old skool MX style! Smile

Oh..3th last pic is nice
  • 1 0
 Isn't it either
Indian air
or
superman
NOT BOTH. 'Superman indian air' can't be right
(jamie goldman picture)
  • 1 1
The 720 off the stepdown was the best thing thrown in my opinion, too bad he just over rotated.
  • 2 0
 Some really nice shots.
