I guess here are hundreds of Fox reps in Pinkbike, because any negative comment about their product gets instant -4 or more. So to make sure that my comment isn't hidden, I'll say: "The products looks amazing! So much better then TLD... So much better!"
This has been going on for awhile... they are also getting pretty liberal deleting peoples comments. Even when they are in no way offensive or beligerent. If they are going to censor the comments that much, then why not just say f' the comments on products we don't want to see any negitive comments on? Because censoring comments like that produces a skewed image of the public opinion.....
Not really a big deal I guess but I noticed it awhile ago, they also tend to shift comments they "like" to the top, others they don't to the bottom.
For the record, this new Fox stuff looks great. I like the PRO helmet.
So that's whats going on I did wonder. I've commented on post before and had lots of replies but can not find or see them strange. I really think constructive comments should be not removed . Nice fox gear I like the neon yellow jersey at the start of the vid
Now they will know you know that we know what they know what you should not know . I don't know if you know but do they know others know ......... Who KNOWS LOL
It rare that anybody at PB deletes a comment - like one in 10,000 and then only because it is vulgar or hurtful with no relation to the article. When users get negative propped more than five times, PB's algorithms automatically move that comment below threshold. The actual number is five negatives more than the positive comments on that post. Soooo, you get thrown off the comment board by your fellow commenters (if that is actually a word). Spammers who post numerous positive or negative props also get automatically bumped. Try it with this comment and you can see how it works. RC
So you get "bumped" if you use a feature of the site that you provide (+/-)??? Seeing as you can only "prop" any given comment one time that seems a bit of a redundant redundancy and fairly stupid to me. Maybe it makes more sense if you wear a Lycra sin-suit while thinking about it???
As far as the line goes: MEH... I get wanting your racers to have a highly noticeable and memorable kit, but to ME, the only decent looking stuff is just the same as last year (Demo) for the most part (not too many ways to make a solid colored pair of cargo-shorts all that "different" from year to year and that is fine by me) and for as much as you pay to be a brightly colored billboard for FOX I'd rather spend my money somewhere else. I've had family that worked in the clothing lines of Nike, Adidas, Morrow and a few other names of varying popularity, and to see two IDENTICAL pieces of clothing go for two drastically different prices based on weather it had X or Y logo on it really stuck with me over the years. I get MOST of my base-layer rafting/backcountry gear from military surplus quite often and it costs 1/4 of the "Patagucci" type stuff out there and it actually LASTS a few seasons. It may not be the hot ticket item of the season, but it works...
BUT, I guess if someone's willing to pay that much for something, then, that is what it's worth...
The-Medic. There is no such thing as what it's worth - I recommend chapter about pricing in "Free to Choose" by Milton Friedman - burn after reading and then read the "Price of nothing" by Raj Patel. So far the best things I've read on the subject.
has anyone mentioned the BELL FULL 9? it will be out in another month or so and looks to be much nicer than the fox or tld offerings. i can't wait to get mine. i like both fox and tld, and i have used both brands in motocross for years, but BELL goes back further than both TLD and FOX put together in the helmet game.
All the douchie moto guys have ruined anything with a fox head on it for me. I feel like a tool wearing the little fox stuff I do have. Bring on the neg props...
Douchie moto guys is a pretty small part of the general population that rides, shouldn't affect what you wear riding MTB.
On the flip side, I can't stand when someone is kitted to the max in Troy lee looking like they are sponsored when mot definitely aren't. It's all perspective, to each their own. I wear what I like and everyone else should regardless of what other people may make it out to be.
Its true about small portion skewing everything, but in this case the 'small portion' is more like 90% of people that wear Fox Head gear don't even own anything with 2 wheels, let alone a bicycle. Maybe this is more for where I'm from and currently live, but it definitely influences my decision whether or not to buy some Fox gear. I do love their gloves and the Flux helmet.
What lumberjerk said - fox head is the same as von dutch or ed hardy to most who own it. Wear ironically ftw, and you will have more fun than any fashion victim.
Fox did that damage to themselves a bit too.... you see tasteless Fox t-shirts at department stores now... you don't even have to ride moto to look like a douche, you just go to tjmaxx and buy yourself a full douche kit.
tld and fox are both overpriced. lots of other smaller companies out there with competitive product lines. What you pay for here and at TLD is the brand name
I haven't been too happy with my Fox gloves the last couple pairs. They fell apart way too soon. I have some specialized gloves now...seem to be holding up a little better so far.
Had some TLD GPs recently, good gloves but didn't survive a couple of recent crashes. Fox gloves have always been most durable for me. The worst gloves I have ever used were 661s, palms wore through after one ride!
Is it weird that I have two pairs of riding shorts of different brands, then just rock a cut off or old T-shirt? I mean is mtb clothing crazy expensive for anyone else in this world!?
I like the look of the fox gear, but over the last three years I've had the ass wear out on three pair of their shorts and the zipper blew out on another.
Not to mention, I bought their Titan Racing Chest protector and it clearly says washing machine friendly, and the second time through the wash the back protector got F'd up, and fox was like sorry you have to buy the whole thing again if you want another back protector. I said it's only two months old, and I followed your damn instructions, but thanks for the support now that you have my cash.
Your LOOSING me and my business FOX, and you have no one to blame except for yourselves.
2 zippers on a fox rain jacket blew out on it's first ride! I'm usually a warranty king but I was so disappointed I didn't even bother to warranty it cause I didn't even want another one.
Wow... from some of the comments I guess they've managed to make men as moronically fashion obsessed as women are. Who cares if you don't have "this years kit"??? It's not like anything is ACTUALLY new, it;s just a new print that'll be "not new" the same time next year...
I have Fox shorts I bought in 2004 that I still wear, still look good. Most of my gear is fox. I love the function of it - I have a jersey with a nice little pocket in it for cell phone/keys. Plus is looks sweet. It is funny though, how the Freeride/DH segment is now a viable group to market clothes for.
So I have a pair of Fox Epic shorts from a few years ago that are just about perfect IMO. What is that the equivalent to now, it was built with full stretchy material, had two normal mesh pockets, one zipped back pocket, one key zipped pocket on the thigh, and had mesh vents and cut outs. Size was perfect for me, it sucks when they discontinue gear you like.
Fox needs to make the rampage pro in a non carbon version for those of us too broke to get a carbon helmet. I much prefer the look of the rampage pro than the regular rampage.
I have some Fox stuff, but never really wanted to have it. I bought it because it was easily accessible, thats why Fox is good, I would say, its everywhere.
FOX has always been good to me with the exception of their gloves. Nothing from TLD is worth squat except their helmets, which I use. DaKine has dominated my use with no complaints. Their gear kicks ass!
I love FOX, I love the shocks, the forks, etc. I love the clothes too. All of this look amazing and I would buy....
....But I'am also bitching all the time because 3 of my sergeant cargo shorts got totally bleached by the sun, and scraped in the crouch, using them only on weekends, and after some mails to FOX dudes, nobody could reply.
They've got some of the best in the biz wearing their stuff,it could be the worst made crap out there but let's face it...those guys wear it people like us will buy it
Bottom line is I cant afford a $500 TLD helmet or $200 kit. And I think I trust Fox since they have been in the game a while. And im not sayin I hate TLD. Id love to have some TLD gear but can't lol unless they gave me some stuff or lowered there price drastically.
Everyone's jelly cause they're too scared to wear such loud kit. Troy lee's for the people who don't care what everyone else thinks about them and how they look.
looks a bit better than their usual stuff, but still more hideous than their competitors. at least no camo was hurt in the making of these clothes. oh wait.....I see camo !!!
Child labour is a good thing, it keeps the prices down. Plus it keeps them kids from running wild in the streets while doing something for the community, never to early to start with that >.
