Jamie Goldman and Santa Cruz Bikes Part Ways

by Tyler Maine
Goldman and SCB have been working together for a long time, 14 years to be exact. And while it may come as a shock that the two have decided to move in different directions, it is not the end for either party. Goldman has decided to focus more of his efforts into film and photo related projects. Jamie would like to say,

bigquotesI've had some of the best times of my life working with Santa Cruz Bikes, I consider many of the workers at the factory good friends and my relationship with Roskopp remains untainted. I respect the hell out of that guy, he runs a solid company with great bikes and I would never let something like this come between such a long friendship. I've known Rob since I was a tyke, and I had a great time working with him, I grew a tremendous amount as a person and an athlete while we worked together and I owe him a great deal of gratitude. As for the future, it looks bright, I'm planning on attending select Slopestyle, Enduro, and Downhill events, UDUG2013 is on, and I'll be putting a huge focus on capturing a film segment that I am truly proud of. To everyone: Keep shredding your bike, and I'll see you out on the trail! - Jamie Goldman

Goldman was the first to really trick this jump during the Joyride Slopestyle Qualifiers and even after the main event this is still my favorite shot on this jump. Huge

So keep your eyes out for Jamie Goldman and his upcoming season. He’s all smiles and excited for his new adventure.

I asked the Santa Cruz reps at interbike 2 years ago about them making a slopestyle bike after they got rid of the driver 8. They said that SCB was looking into building one, but the hold up was there was no money in it. They said not a whole lot off people buy small DH/slopestyle bikes, and that there was more value/money in investing in Trail bikes, Enduro style bikes (Nomad/Blur TR), and full on DH race. I think this is a real bummer, Jamie would be one of the best peopleto help design a slopestyle bike and you know SCB would build an awesome one. My feeling is that since Jamie left SCB, the idea of building one is dead. Really sucks, I was really hoping for one.

Yeah SCB would build a sick one, It'd be sweet to see if they could encorperate the vpp system into a small travel bike. But unfortunatly Santa Cruz bike is semi right. The hype is beginning to go over to cross country and enduro (Because everyone and anyone can do it) so many people want to try it. I'm sure now that slopestyle is in Xgames it will begin to get the recognition it deserves and that will build it bigger! Hopefully we will see World Cups go to the Olympics ones day as well or maybe even get monster to a Monster Energy World Cup and have a bigger circuit that a couple races. Cheers!

I don't think it matters to Jamie that they aren't building a slope bike. I volunteered at Crankworx in the summer, and I got the chance to talk to some of the guys at the starting tower during joyride & qualifiers. I asked him why he's riding a big bike at a slope comp and he said its just really hard to switch back, after being on a big nice squishy bike he didn't want to switch back to a small bike.

Jamie whyyy! You were unique on the big bikes at slope comps! You better keep that up!

I was with Mr Goldman last night- he didn't utter a word about this. Clearly he has his 'A' game still and will be releasing more news soon! Yeah Goldman- your a true genuine human being. Stoked to be 'one' of your friends.
