It's so cool seeing kids getting adapted into biking This generation is first off, getting LAZY And we need to turn that around, by getting the new kids into stuff like biking, fun, and gets them out of the house

I'd say to kids leave that Iphone and Ipad, go listen to some rock&roll and get some drugs. This contemporary system of needs and values along with what's in education are so low that you got to get high

No, just wondered what would be the reaction. Though I draw a paralell between computers for small kids and soft drugs and alcohol among teenagers. Im still an idiot for writing this. Cool to see such products marketed in such a way, get your kid off the smart phone and face pad.

you missed out on a fun video, and missed the point too. i think the video was trying to equate the kids with what their parents might do - watch vids on the ipad, get all jacked up, call their friends and go riding.

Exactly right - @two...the video was a spoof and completely hysterical if you ask me. You should see the two kids trying to load the bikes into the van - it's adorable. That and the "trailbuilding segment" had me dying. The whole idea is to portray kids engaging in the riding culture like adults - i.e., stoking on videos pre-ride, calling friends to arrange the ride and then going out and shredding it, just like a ton of us do all the time.

I have an iPad, my 3yr old daughter can navigate thru it to her educational apps, put the kids section on bbc iplayer, and she love taking photos on. She is also very active, I take her all sorts of kids play/activity centres and she can ride a stablized push bike.

Technology is the future love it or hate it. Just because she can use an iPad/iPhone or what ever, doesn't mean she is LAZY, as you put it!

no question that its extremely important to get children into touch with technology at an early stage of their life. yet just feel lucky that you and your daughter were born in england and not in taiwan. otherwise you might be an foxconn employee producing apple products under the worst conditions ever. i mean those workers kill themselfes all the time even during work. if you fall for apple, at least have some reaspect for those ppl... no one said that technology using kids are lazy

Cool video but the bikes don't impress me. Kids deserve threadless headsets and light wheels. The frames looked nice, but in the grand scheme of things that comes in pretty low on the list. Rotational weight matters most for these little kids. Then leverage. Bars gotta be wide enough but not overkill. My girls are still on push bikes and I've already started making improvements. Of course they seem less impressed with the wheels and more impressed with the bells, but they are better riders and that is what matters. That and they have fun, but that is a given.

^ I agree that kids do deserve some kind of "quality" build for themselves..but just as along it works it shouldn't make a huge difference.

They aren't racing, they will grow out of the bikes quickly, etc etc. Of course, as they get older and if their interest in mtb is still huge/pivotal in their life then every new bike will have to match their riding experience/skills.

I am 12 years old and I ride my moms 8 year old Arashi Matrix bike (Google it) it has threaded rst 156 forks, seals are all blown. The headset sucks it needs a new one becuase I have not to bearings and I have to keep the bearing seal down with weed wacker wire. I wanted to build a dirtjumper... so I did, the guy at my local bike shop was kind enough to give me a new rear wheel that he had bought years ago and then I bought a DMR single speed kit for it, before that I just had a multi speed freewheel and the chain set on one cog, it always fell off and then I would wipe out untill I got the single speed kit and rear wheel. I painted the frame gloss black black and redid the seat with a black t shirt. I took odd the front brakes and all the shifting mechanisms. I just recently got some new pedals for it. But still the forks wobble and shake and I have really short bars but I dont care that it is a 8 year old wal mart bike, there are still alot of things wrong with it but I still love to go out and jump with my friends! Im just saying that you dont need to have a $500+ bike to go out and have fun

For sure man, but if you get on a bike in good condition it will be an awesome treat. And if you got a food bike it would last a lot longer. Probably too long since you'd out grow it in a year or two. I plan to get my kids bmx bikes until they are 5 feet tall, then I will build them hardtail and change out parts until they are full height. Then they can buy nice bikes. All shredders deserve quality bikes, even if it is super simple.

Ya, someday I would like to get a good quality bike, but the one I have now is a 26" so I dont think ill out grow it anytime soon haha even though im 12 im 5'8" so ill stick with this untill I can afford a decent bike

if you find a frame that can take a 1 1/8 threadless headset you can build it into a good HT a part at a time. A shoveled driveway can get you a headset. 2 more can get you a manitou axel fork. A birthday can get you a pair of rhynolites.
I built my wife's bike for about $110 over the course of a year. A spec hardrock with a marz exr fork and some rhynolites. It had a lot of crappy parts. over the next year i continued. another $150 and it is a bike you would have payed $2000 new.

Those kids with the pedal-less bikes are going to have some beastly legs when they get older.

I wish somebody made a legit full suspension bike for young kids though. My 9 year old brother really wants to start DH racing with me and I want to buy him a bike but there is nothing available. I'm talking disk brakes, 4"+ travel, quality etc. I know the Commencal 24" is out there but that is still too big for him. Maybe I should learn to weld and start my own company!

I got my 9 yr old son a used Specialized Gromhit (full sus 24" wheels), perfect for gravity fun and not too heavy for a bit of pedaling. They are not made anymore so need to look in classifieds, but it is a legit bike.

As olstar said check out Lil Shredder, i met Brian in earlier this month at the Lumberyard in Portland. Super nice guy and the 2013 frames are even better. His son is 5 and shreds the big line at that park, so cool to see...

Wow, thanks a lot guys! Especially olstar, I've never seen those bikes before but that is EXACTLY what I am looking for! That will make an awesome bike to start out on. Function before fashion, we didn't have special bikes as kids, little alone suspension. Kids bike tech really hasn't changed, but our kids are getting out more on bikes because of us cool parents! More companies like this, need to get noticed!

Awesome vid good to see people are starting to make good bikes for kids but I personally will still be buying and backing Isla bikes untill my lad hits 20" as for the price you get a good spec and they're light and strong.

My boy is getting his first kicker bike for Christmas. He'll be 2 in January. He loves digging and biking around on his 4-wheeler toy trucks so trail building will be right up his alley. Now its on his old dad to get busy building the pump track in the front yard. I'm more psyched for this than all my past whistler trips combined.

You can get one of those sick little 16 inch and 20 inch dual suspension bikes from Lil Shredders. I think he is even designing a new 24 inch bike. The cool thing is the 16 and 20 are the same frame, and you just swap out the rear hangers. Bike grows as your little grom grows!

Or you can look at the Scott Spark Jr 20. its full suspension and its not too much $$. If you want you can swap out the components for better quality and have a sick little bike.
