Video: The Weapon of Choice

Feb 20, 2013 at 11:12
by Tyler Maine

Well it's that time of the year again! Our new 2013 team bikes have landed and for the second year running we are pleased to present the Giant Glory 00 Team Terrain Bikes in all their Shiny Glory (no pun intended)!

Watch our Head mechanic, Ben Wood, build one of these bikes in a matter of minutes thanks to the wonders of time lapse video, and then see what happens when 2 our our team riders get their Grubby paws on there new race rigs!

With thanks to Jed Whitfield & Simon Cheung for the riding segments of this video & Tom Towers for Helping with the filming, I'm sure our 2013 follow up to "Birth of a Glory" Won't Disappoint!

Nicely put together video and good to see some building then riding, building then riding, etc.

Why do the "professionals" never use a torque wrench though? Granted is is less critical on robust DH parts but I have always wonder why not???
  • 1 0
For some reason he uses a torque wrench on some of the bolts like the brake levers but not others like the stem
  • 1 0
If I am not mistaken the Torque wrench used is the Bonty in the PB product picks which is preset at 5Nm- usually too high for brake lever/ gear shifter bolts, especially with CF handlebars, but ironically more suited to brake caliper bolts, stem bolts, etc where it wasn't used. So when the torque wrench was used it was used inappropriately and when it wasn't used was when it was more needed Smile Very odd!

maybe a weapon of choice but why spoil it by sticking hope brakes on it?? I have them brakes and have to say absolute shite if i could get my money back or swap them for a tidy set of saints I would be a very happy man.

3:05... These guys need bikes every 1/2 season with those sick hops... Perfect form: Elbows out... Back straight... Knees bent... I think those bikes need less travel... Or the team riders need moto boots and 125cc's

You missed out on the vivid air that most of us NZ boys got on ours and why on earth would you switch out x0 trail brakes?
  • 4 0
Because they lack stopping power, the pads don't last that long, and SRAM has a history of making defective brakes?
  • 1 0
Have you ever ridden them? If you need more stopping power you seriously need to get on your bike more and lose those extra pounds! And another solution would be to go faster and use them less that also fixes the worn pads problem which i havent found to be true.
