You can find this young gun out in the small town of Nelson BC. His name is Michael Parenteau and he is 17 years old. He has been riding bikes for about two years now and makes it look like he has been riding longer than most.

Check out his video and pics inside,It's not just riding on two wheels that this kid is famous for, it’s also for riding on one! Mike has been trying to collect sponsors to help get him around since he started the sport of mountain biking. He says it’s hard to get a quality sponsor when you are so new to the sport as well as helping to introduce a new sport, but now he is rolling in them! Mike Currently rides for Brodie Bikes, Schwalbe Tires, Five Ten shoes, Hype Energy Drink, POC Protective Gear, and Magura Brakes. He is going to be appearing at three World Cups this season. You’ll be able to see him at the World Cup in Mont St. Anne Canada, Bromont Canada, and Schladming Austria.

At the moment Mike is riding a new Kris Holm one-wheeled downhill bike with gears and a brake. He is expecting to use it at the world cup events that he will be appearing at this season.

Mike is the type of kid that is not scared to try something that is somewhat unthinkable…being the first person the front flip a 26 inch wheeled unicycle off a 13 foot drop in Castlegar BC is quite amazing…and unthinkable!

Mike is currently one of the fastest riders around on a one-wheeled bike and is working on his two wheeled racing career as well, make sure to keep your eyes out for this kid in the seasons to come.

I know it's dumb to think so, but it just looks so stupid, sorry one wheel guys.
  • 10 1
Ya, I just can't get into it. I know it takes tons of skill, but......
  • 11 2
i just dont see the point.

amazing skill like, good on u lad, but why!?
  • 4 3
because he likes to challenge himself??
  • 3 3
like, no more awesome hours fixing your bike and no more suspension and no more upgrading your bike like crazy.
  • 4 5
I think this $hit's insane awesome! I would never try it but I love watching people take their skills to the next level no matter how many wheels they're on... although those 4-wheel MTBs r pretty goofy lol
  • 5 0
4 wheel mtbs are for handicapped people man. Parapalegics...
  • 1 4
it was a joke... lighten up man
  • 2 1
ouch. making fun of handicapped people now?
  • 2 0
dbcg, how is that funny? That's disturbing that you see humor in that. Karma will probably break your spine in your next crash, and you'll look pretty goofy in a 4 wheeler...

That's just mean and unecessary...
  • 2 0
????? I'M the mean unecessary one??? I just made a simple, tasteless joke... ur the one that's wishing paralysis on me because of it... ur just disgusting

Nice to see Brodie back in the news, I heard a rumour earlier this year they've got a new DH prototype, maybe that's what they're going to announce next?
  • 5 2
"Not take it seriously"? That's what people used to say about mountain bikes. Now he's on an international UCI DH series tour and has garnered a cool list of sponsors. Just curious, do you have any sponsors?

I've rode w/ Mike on Mount Fromme on the North Shore in North Vancouver. You know, that place that everyone else in the world seems to have so much fun modeling their own technical trails after and even describe their trails as "North Shore"-style because of how challenging they are?

He rode his uni-cycle and although he wasn't as fast as some of the other riders, he cleaned almost everything and it was his first time there. He also lives and rides in Nelson, BC. One of the most consistently steep places I've ever rode.

Congratulations Mike, awesome to see you having fun riding your unicycle and your bike and doing it around the world!

 Way to tell em Andrew!
  • 9 4
But why brodie? Didn't they completely drop their DH line up and FR line up? All they have are these crappy 6 inch bikes that snap alot.
  • 5 5
aaa aint that bad, as for such a small company it still looks more convenient than Knolly's which looks like having a cosmic suspension system attached to a front triangle that's not worthy even a 100$ hardtail...
  • 3 0
They don't snap a lot, apprently theyre awesome. Anyway, theyve only dropped the DH lineup for 09. They are coming back next season with a new design next year.
  • 5 0
Well, I've seen enough snapped brodies...My mom broke her diablo, I broke my Nemesis, and the local team rider broke 3 damiens...
  • 2 0
i broke my Devo and my friend broke the same Devo in the same spot...
  • 2 1
if that's what you think about knolly then you obviously have never ridden one, and know nothing about it, or the north shore (the real one)
  • 1 2
huh?? i haven't said anything about knolly...
  • 3 1
I just say what I see and I do not criticize Knollys' performance. It's just the front triangle that bugs me cuz its just too cheap comparing to the swingarm. And Z-man I believe quite a big part of the pinkbike world is getting sick and tired of ppl saying "U never ridden the real north shore" and using it as an argument in discussion why someone should shut up. Go (h)uck Urself with Ur "Im from the shore" attitude. Im sure there's plenty of riders ten times better than U out there in BC that dont (h)uck around with it as U do.
  • 2 0
how does the front end look cheap? have you ever seen one in real life?
you're a f*cking ass clown.
  • 2 0
the whole reason i brought up the shore is cause knollys are from north van, they are made for the shore. they have a specific geometry for the tight switch backs and steep decents. better thren anything that has ever, ever, come out of Poland.
  • 3 1
wooo hooo, WAR! Let's make a war, cripple fiiight! I have nothing to Canada, but if southpark was making fun of some certain canadians these were ones like U Big Grin
  • 1 0
hahaha!!! mad props to WAKIdesigns!!! that was awesome!!!
  • 2 0
I actually find it quite bizarre that so many here are slagging off Brodie...... when quite recently.... there have been so many recalls from companies steming from quality issues.....

If something breaks and is within warranty parameters, you should have no issue......as you are covered.
If it breaks and its out of warranty or user fault...... man up and take it....... we are not playing tennis here!!!
( not that tennis is bad)

"At the moment Mike is riding a new Kris Holm one-wheeled downhill bike with gears and a brake. He is expecting to use it at the world cup events that he will be appearing at this season." I am not getting this. Is he riding the unicycle at the worldcups as a demo or the Brodie. Looking at the current VOD he doesn't look like a world cup level racer to me.
  • 4 3
sorry but every time i see a uni i only think "that would be so much better if they were on a bike (A real one with TWO wheels)" Unicycles are a novelty item that should be reseved for clowns and circuses. i have NEVER seen any footage of a uni showing true flow...they do some crazy stuff that i cannot but it is always so forced and choppy looking. he's definitely got skills but why waste them on a unicycle?
  • 4 2
 THANK YOU!
  • 1 1
I've seen a video of a dude riding the North Shore on a unicycle with some great flow...
  • 1 0
I ride an 06 Brodie Devo and love it. Its fast and has plenty of travel to make up for any mistakes i make. The reason they removed their big travel bikes for this and likely next season is that their new design was too close to the maestro design. But dont worry Brodie DH offerings will be back in 2011 at the latest.

 HAHAHAHA xD
  • 2 0
 wtf..............................
  • 2 0
 that's so fake
  • 6 2
hmm. just wondering why landing the flip was cut off? Big Grin
  • 3 1
 Because it's a teaser.
  • 3 0
maybe he's yet to land it? maybe we'll have to wait 2 years before the real vid where he lands one. jokes.
  • 1 0
i know you were joking, but seriously there are loads of mountains in great britain! Bikes don't last long over here due to the harsh conditions, that's why Hope and Orange have the perfect testing ground Wink
  • 1 0
Thats so crazy I'd stand more chance of landing a double frontflip than even making a drop half that size on unicycle, how does he absorb the landing with one wheel and no sus.
  • 1 0
I agree Craig7 Brodies ride very well and I've ridden tons of Bikes. It was super numble quick and jumped like no other! I personally love the cycle cross bikes too.
  • 2 0
i was going to say v.o.d but where they cut off him landing the flip this don't you no v.o.d maybe someday
  • 4 1
looks a good laugh, but u can not take that seriously!!!!!
  • 5 6
can't take that seriously? Have you ever been on a unicycle? If you have, you will know that what the kid is doing if brutally difficult. try riding down a mountain with a fixed geared bike and see how serious that is. o wait...no mountains in GB...forget it (JK).

This kid was at a race earlier this year I attended and he dropped in once everyone was done. Watching him come down the last section with berms and hits was pretty rad.
  • 1 1
no mountains in britain? are you being serious?
  • 1 1
dude...jk...just joking. just taking the piss.
  • 1 1
"Bikermark" - he's doing more of a demo tour with the uni from what I understand and may race in some Junior events this year on his Brodie too.
  • 1 0
thanks. That makes sense. Not that he is a bad two-wheel rider, just maybe a bit of gap between him and Peat or Hill for example.
  • 1 1
he didn't look very fast at all. it's kinda weird that brodie is sponsoring him, they don't make a DH bike or a uni. Norco would make a whole lot more sense.
  • 1 0
i feel bad saying it cause the kid obviously has talent, but god i hate unicycles.
  • 1 0
 then don't say it.
  • 2 0
 lol
  • 1 0
I don't know what to think of it, really.
  • 1 1
i honestly dont believe he did it or landed it because they cut out the landing
  • 2 1
its a teaser its supposed to make you want more
  • 1 0
i know its just hard to believe he landed it when they cut it out like that, but that does not mean he did not land it
  • 1 0
that insane. there is no suspension n he landed it
  • 3 4
 unicycles are unbelievably gay
  • 2 2
No they're not. They take skill to ride.
  • 2 1
that doesnt make them any less gay
  • 3 0
Yes it does. Also, calling things 'gay' is pretty stupid as well, inanimate objects can't have a sexual preference or be happy...
  • 2 0
it does however tell us all what you're thinking about
  • 2 0
ive tried to ride a unicycle and i respect the people who ride them because its hard as hell. but it just ruined the movie for me and i think they look stupid when people ride them
  • 3 4
 unicycles are so gay
  • 4 0
Weak, is the word you are look for. Week=7 days. Wink
  • 2 0
WEEK OR WEAK... Still sucked ass either way.
