Eric porter tries a backflip on a 250 cc dirt bikeSo I was down at Ogio the other day riding their private team only skatepark, when I run into Andy Bell, the Ogio VP of Marketing and all around nasty moto dude (google him or watch any of the Nitro Circus videos and you'll know what I'm talking about). Anyway, by the end of the day I end up getting talked into trying a backflip on my full size 250cc dirtbike the next day with Pastrana.
The next day I show up, and they have this 12 or so foot tall ramp set up into about a 30 foot tall mulch pile with about a 30 foot gap out as well, pretty safe setup I guess. I watched a couple other guys that are good freestyle moto riders but have never flipped before pull it within a couple tries, so I figure why not! I put on my gear, warmed up my bike, and lined up in front of the jump. This thing looks freakin crazy, you can see what I was looking at in the photos below. I'm told I need to go into the ramp in second gear about 1/2 throttle, and then just before the lip full throttle and lean back! Basically there was no way to back out at this point, the cameras were on, I had been called out by Bell, I couldn't back down!! I'm about as scared to do anything as I've ever been, but I had to make myself do it. So in I go,
