Chilly, fickle weather turned positively prime this second day of enduro practice at CES Round 7 –
the Kamikaze Bike Games – on
Mammoth Mountain. Although the mountain received a decent bit of rain a few days prior, it wasn’t enough to alter the trails and riders took on the dry, loose, deep pumice (aka “kitty litter”) Mammoth is famed for.
Running at altitude, the Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro is historically an extremely physical course, and modifications to the course – such as the inclusion of additional highly technical tracks such as the renowned DC10 – make it even more so this season. Stages include pedally sections that put legs and lungs to the test, as well as ridiculously steep, soft chutes, plus rock gardens and tight corners galore.
On Saturday, Sport and Beginner racers will challenge themselves on four stages spanning the entire mountain. Sunday, Pro and Expert riders will tackle those four plus an additional stage for good measure.
The Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro is the final round of the
Golden Tour, California Enduro Series’ pro triple crown that also included the China Peak Enduro and the Northstar Enduro. It is also an EWS Qualifier. Follow the action on Instagram @mammothmountain @kamikazebikegames
