California Enduro Series: Round 7, Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro Pro Podium; Golden Tour Champs by calienduro

Pro and Expert racers took to the Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro course Sunday, September 17 on a chilly, blustery morning under a bright blue sky. The KBG Enduro at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes is Round 7 of the California Enduro Series (CES) and the final stop on the Golden Tour – the series’ pro triple crown that also included the China Peak Enduro and the Northstar Enduro. It is also an EWS Qualifier.

With stages starting at over 11,000' elevation, the KBG Enduro is renowned as an exceptionally rough and physical course, and modifications to the course – such as the inclusion of additional pro line trails such as DC10 and Shock Treatment – upped the ante even more this year.

The Pro/Expert course featured five stages that included 13.7 miles of timed racing and 8,235 feet of descent spanning the entire mountain. The day before, Sport and Beginner racers took on four stages that included 12.3 miles of timed racing and 6,965 feet of descent on a much warmer day but one no less challenging.

Marco Osborne (WTB/Cannondale) took first place for Pro Men while Kathy Pruitt defended her Pro Women top spot. Evan Geankoplis and Amy Morrison – both Marin Enduro Team riders – came out on top for the 2017 Golden Tour; Geankoplis defending his 2016 title. The 2017 California Enduro Series will wrap up with the Ashland Mountain Challenge presented by Ashland Mountain Adventures on October 7 in Ashland, Oregon.
