Keegan Wright's prototype Devinci 29er

This weekend at the NZ Enduro we are seeing what many of the pros will be riding for the upcoming EWS season: Fresh Blood, Keegan Wright was spotted aboard a prototype 29" Devinci, sporting very similar lines to his production Spartan.

Shortly after announcing their 29" Wilson DH bike, many of our loyal PB commenters were calling for Devinci to make a big-wheeled Spartan or Troy platform before worrying about the downhill bike, your wishes may just become true.

The big wheeler certainly looks like it has made it through the secretive prototype stage, unless Keegan missed the "Do NOT tell anyone!" memo.

The new rig appears to be running a 65mm stroke metric Super Deluxe. The 27.5" version uses the same shock to get 165mm travel so this bike could have slightly more?.

Expect more news from the NZ Enduro over the weekend as racing gets underway...

Actually I didn't elect anyone, moose crap for brains stunad. What were you born yesterday in Canada ???//Ehhhh?? What that has to do with a Devinici only confirms my doubt of Canadian intellect. Exhibit Ehhh!

@thebigheezy: LOL! Oh yes.. How on earth did I miss that.. Ya I see it now.. Totally looks like one.

Pinkbike, why use "Spotted" in the title when clearly you were invited over to take pictures??

 Click bait

These long travel 29ers are VERY sexy.... I can see how they make sense for EWS.
  • 4 0
And very tempting for someone over 6ft tall. I was heart set on a Pole but this shakes things up a bit since I love my current old (and short, and laid back seatangle) spartan
  • 10 0
@kylemciver: Yeah, If this Devinci doesnt do it for you... you may have to go sit on a pole.
  • 2 0
 @triptex: I have a Pole, it's long and black

 Doesn't look like a Session...

Let me just grab all my photography gear and head to the beach in case I spot a new bike. Oh wow there is actually a random dude here with a new bike what a coincidence I surely did not set up a meting
  • 8 1
Seems to me that it’s been a while since we’ve see a brake lever angle shot... I wish it had been longer
  • 2 1
cLEVER, but I think the point of the photo is to show the combined cabling.

Dear Devinci, how about a proper-sized XL this year. I keep on hoping that maybe this will be the year you get to 500mm reach in XL and maybe, just maybe, size specific chainstay lengths. Please.

And as we all know, hope is a bitch.
  • 8 1
 I'd buy that for a dollar !!!

Sexy looking bike. The cabling looks neat as well. And Bottle Holder, which every bike should comes with except for DH Bikes. Nice.
  • 1 0
Anyone know how tall he is? Wheelbase seems pretty long from the pictures so I'm wondering what size frame this is? Devinci doesn't usually go crazy with wild geometry, so I'm assuming he's pretty tall.
  • 2 0
If it's a touch longer and lower stand over height vs the Slash there winning
  • 5 2
Must weigh in like a DH bike,,, heavy!
  • 3 1
I concur. I had a a carbon Spartan and it was a tank (that I liked). Looking at the heft of that seatstay I’d imagine this thing is rather ‘husky’.
  • 5 2
To late I got a Norco Range.
  • 3 0
 There’s a 29er Troy as well!
  • 1 0
Are you sure? That would be great
  • 2 0
Oh yes please , this would be a perfect bigger bike to park beside my Django .
  • 2 0
Am I the only one that thinks the gap in the top tube/seat tube is secretly to store your spare “enduro tube”?
  • 2 1
Nice bike! Too bad they are coming out with it this late. Already ordered my Spartan 27,5.
  • 1 0
Does anyone know which manufacturer is working with Devinci for their carbon frames?
  • 15 15
that is hideous from just about any angle. its like they forgot it needed a seatube and then thought "ah its ok, we'll just stick this bit on here"
  • 14 1
It just looks like they didn't want the long seat tube to detemine the location of the main pivot. Seems like a good solution.
  • 4 0
agreed, and they probably saw benefit in a longer straighter seat tube so riders can use almost whatever size dropper they want
  • 1 0
@pacificnorthwet makes a very good point... I also feel like they are trying to not waste material and add unnecessary weight. It would probably look a bit better filled in but it isn't necessary.
  • 2 0
I remember this guys run at MSA last year... and then Gwins run!
  • 1 1
This is the only bike that has made me have some remorse on pulling the trigger on on the new Capra 29er. Sad thing is it will probably be available sooner than my YT also...
  • 3 1
 Yes, Yes Yes
  • 3 1
 29 fuck yeah... Etc
  • 2 0
 Looks like my snabb
  • 2 0
 Yeah, but nah, but yeah.
  • 1 1
Is it possible to use that funky top tube/seat tube junction as a bottle opener?
  • 1 1
Another example that 29er wheels have gone from being mocked to finally accepted
  • 1 0
 Yeah spotted....nice catch!
  • 1 0
Wait they have a 29er dh bike?
  • 1 0
 Looks like a Lenz PB&J...

Photos of the event show a red fork. So, why the change?
  • 2 1
2017 Spartan look better than the new one. There I said it.
  • 1 0
that front fender is RAD.. where to buy????
  • 1 0
 dh casing... yeeeh
  • 1 0
 Rad looking bike..
  • 2 1
 How much travel?
  • 2 1
 Bottle cage? Cool.
  • 1 3
Long chunky maybe more then 165mm travel, gravity tires.... Does anyone ever look at these and think that maybe a nice light dh bike would suffice?
  • 4 0
I wouldn't climb what they climb in EWS with a light DH bike, no
  • 1 2
I recently got a 27.5 bike. Am I supposed to switch to 29 now? Is everybody pushing 29??
  • 1 0
29ers are so fun. If your not an Ewok, you should get on one.
  • 1 0
 not 29 !
