Welcome to Sun Peaks for the penultimate round of the 2022 Norco Canadian Enduro Series presented by Leatt. It's been one hell of a summer of racing, and this coming weekend at Sun Peaks will be no different. We've got what could be the course of the season ready to go featuring chairlifts, climbing, long stages, and epic dirt lined up.

Race Preview

It's been a while since the series last visited the mountain resort of Sun Peaks, 2017 in fact! Remi Gauvin took the win for the men, while Leonie Picton took first place for the women. Looking back through images from that event is a true blast from the past. Lucky for you, we hit the archives and dug out our video recap from that event. Oh, how things have changed in the last 5 years.

The Course

Riders will face six stages, split across Saturday and Sunday. Stages one and two will be raced on Saturday, while stages three, four, five, and six will be saved for Sunday. With this schedule, riders have limited practice time on Saturday, bringing back an element of blind racing. Racers will have to pick and choose which stages they want to practice in the limited time available.

Saturday will be a somewhat easy day on the legs. Stage 1 will be accessed via the chairlift and will also be the shortest of the weekend at just 1.1km. A short climb back to the top of the bike park and riders will tackle a full run right back to the bottom, 2.5km of full-on race track! Get those arms ready!

Sunday starts off relatively easy, with Stages three, four, and five all being accessed via the chairlift. However, with all three stages being over 2.5km in length, finding a comfortable and maintainable pace will be key. The Sun Peaks trails are action-packed! For the final challenge of the weekend, riders will tackle a 10km climb from the village right to the very top. There will be nothing easy about this climb. Save some energy racers! The last stage of the weekend will take riders on a 2.7km rollercoaster from the top right to the village again. A pretty killer way to finish the weekend, even if we do say so ourselves.

A huge thank you has to go out to the Sun Peaks Bike Park Crew and Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association for their tireless work keeping the local trails in the best possible condition. We're incredibly lucky to have access to these great trails and love it when our riders show their support of the trails by donating to the trail association. This goes a huge way to helping ensure these trails are here and maintained for many years to come!

Course looks solid but only 1 real climb over two days of enduro? This is essentially a dh stage race. There are three mountains with trails on them including the new Morrissey trail.

I rode the morresey trail this week and it is NOT ready for 200 racers unfortunately. Maybe next year. Shame altitude didn't make it in, but if I was SPRTA and we raced calypso groove, I'd be pissed haha.

@j-t-g: yeah good call I rode it last weekend and it was in terrible shape haha but thought maybe the rain and 200 sets of tires would pack things in nicely and make for some rowdy racing.

Yeah why do we have to be there so early but I can actually start until like 1pm? This was the same at the harper race. Lack of volunteers?
