You've seen the photos, now it's time to see how the tracks runs. After showing the building works, watch Adrien Loron, Javier Pasamonte and Claudio Caluori take their first laps on the Velosolutions Asphalt Pumptrack in New York City.

The Pumptrack's inauguration will take place on 4th August, and we'll be hosting a party with some pretty special guests, including several World Cup riders who are in the area for the Windham World Cup. Stay tuned for more content!

It's amazing what goes on, right under your nose. I visited New York in late May and I was so taken in by the NYC skyline, I didn't even notice this track being built - I walked right past it. Would've been good to see. What a great way to keep the kids out of trouble, keep them fit and perhaps create world champions of the future.

Lets share this video a heap more - get all major cities on board.
(fine I'll say it) - If more of the worlds cities had more pumping going on, the world would be a happier place.

Yes, every new pump track means more smiles on faces of people of all ages and interests. even the worst grumps will look at it and say: how do tey ride without pedalling?
  • + 10
...we are beginning a plan to lobby our city -- definitely going to contact Velosolutions for input and hopefully we can get them to make a trip to beautiful Victoria BC. Wink

Looks like an amazing park! One more reason to go to NYC again Smile

I do hope they designed those bumps so that scooters will hang up on them Big Grin
  • + 5
Scooters taking over in my town, too. I must say that some of those kids got some skills, though. Spins and flips and manuals and whatnot.
  • + 7
The problem is indeed not the fact that they ride scooters, but that there are 100 little kids literally standing on all the objects in skateparks, blocking every single thing you could do, and snaking everyone all the time. No hate against scooter riders who actually ride and are not like the kids I just described.
  • + 6
I don't disagree that it's a pain when the kids stand around on the track. Just remember we all started somewhere and places like this are how we get fresh blood into the sport. Take the chance to teach them not only how to ride, but how to be a good member of the mountain bike community. And while you are at it take the time to teach the parents, because they probably don't know either.
  • + 1
I don't think you could say it much better than @vertex66 just did. There is a completely different generation of both riders and educators/parents.

This place is just an ad for the yuppie condos that will be built on top of it. In a year or two. There is no community. Nobody goes there. Can't believe all the claims that can be made over the internet. I lived a block away and know very well the story.

Between Lower Greenhorn at Mountain Creek and the Brooklyn Bike Park it's been a good summer for people in the NY/NJ/CT area.

That said Brooklyn isn't quite there with the funding and need more capital to hit their grand opening date. Apparently the insurance is a ton more than when they were running the dirt version across the street. So if you've got a little extra coin from that Marzocchi you decided to hold off on, I'm sure they'd appreciate it and you'll get good feels.

 Please! Stop bs people
  • + 1
@MojoMaujer you need to stop with the negative comments, let people enjoy it while it lasts.
  • + 7
Please Claudio, build something like this in my town, please please please!!!!!!!
  • + 3
Something I noticed, looks like they used millings, which being in the city is an awesome idea. Roads are constantly being paved, so all the recycled asphalt has to go somewhere, and using it for a pumptrack seems like an awesome idea.

Hey, I'm in the background! I finally made it to the front page of pinkbike!
  • + 1
Who can I get in contact with to discuss resources that went into this?
We're currently building a park in north county San Diego. It's awesome to see other cities making it work too!

This place is a big speculation. It is going to be gone in a year or two. Condos will be built there. It is just and ad for the condos.
  • + 4
This music was used in a Warner segment in an old Sprung movie.. Awesome!! Looks like a rad pump track..
  • + 3
currently bikers are getting arrested, ticketed, and permanently getting kicked out of my local skate park. one of these asphalt pump tracks would be perfect in my town.
  • + 4
Im just mesmerized how they've built a entire pump track from scratch, i know how hard it is do that good
  • + 4
Aren't velosolutions a company? Isn't building pumptracks from scratch kinda what they do?
  • + 2
So i can't be mesmerized because they are a company? they're not humans like us or what? thats like saying I can't think a bike company is doing good bike just because they are a company and building bikes is what they do. Man go home you're drunk
  • + 1
Nice try bud... But no, I'm sober. You're mesmerised because they did it from scratch, that's fine, it's just not mesmeric to most because someone pays them to do that. Its actually like saying 'isn't it mesmerising how trek manage to build a bike from scratch', when it's not. It's okay though, some kids are mesmerized by traffic lights.
  • + 2
Please go and try to build a pumpstack your self from scratch and come back then sir
  • + 1
Mate... Really.. Where are you going with this? I can't make suits or brew beer... It doesn't make a profit-making company that can, mesmerising. Just make it clear what's so impressive, the pump track? Yes! Sure! Times ten!! But mesmerising that they did it from scratch? Amateurs doing it from scratch is impressive yes. Professionals doing it is called business. Which they wouldn't be in for long, if they expected someone to start it off for them. Anyway, don't want an argument and I'm not disputing your right to be impressed, but I think I said that.
  • + 2
Tobi/AM -- are you guys married? You sound like me and my wife. Pump that!
  • + 2
Lol.. Yeah sorry, it can wait till I get home! I didn't mean to upset him, but he waded in with the drunk thing so BAM! I returned the ball! Sorry AM, no hard feelings eh? What time is dinner?
  • + 2
Im divorcing you if you don't let me be impressed boohoo and go and make your own dinner haha
  • + 4
Such a cracking little video- it's raining outside but this edit made me feel like I was sunbathing. Great work.
  • + 4
Is there anything Claudio can't do?
  • + 4
 Relax?
  • + 3
 He can't troll on internet
  • + 4
Why won't it work for me?!??!?!?!!?!?!??
  • + 1
It's great to see this for such a big city and it looks super fun and amazingly built, however on a busy weekend with all the locals there? Pft you'd be lucky to get in one lap of the thing.
  • + 3
the most beautiful art piece in NY City right now.
  • + 1
Looks aweome. Huge grip being asphalt too no doubt. I think Toronto could use one. Smile
  • + 1
Place looks dope! Cool to see Jon Burgermans awesome artwork on the track too!
  • + 2
Come on Boris Johnson... what you sayn'
  • + 2
 Usually drivel..
  • + 2
I'd visit more of the worlds great cities if they had more pumptracks
  • + 7
I don't think there is such a thing as a great city.
  • + 3
 NYC Pimptrack
  • + 1
I wish there wasnt a fee to ride it but hopefully in the near future it will be open to the public,
  • + 0
 What does it cost?
  • + 2
 "
Brooklyn Bike Park is a free, family oriented bicycle course which offers a basic skills training...
" it says it is free..
  • + 1
pretty sure they are charging as of right now till someone sponsors it for insurance cost which should not be a lot.. plenty of space for adverts so it shouldn't be much longer.
  • + 1
Right now they're trying to pay off their insurance bill which is 10,000 so for now it's if you helped build it or donate 100 bucks you're good for the month. Next week when they open it's going to be a $75/mo membership or 10 bucks for 2 hours.
  • + 0
Lol... 75 membership? Ppl would not go even if it was free. This is the corporate track. Bmx in nyc has nothing to do with it.
  • + 1
that so good. we need one everywhere
  • + 1
so sick, & 2 breakestra songs?? hells yeah.
  • + 2
 great video
  • + 2
 No worky for me too.
  • + 1
Great. Claudio now please come to LA and build one!
  • + 1
@Blastedporkies reminds me of powell river pump track
  • - 1
If you want to get good on a pumptrack, get a BMX. More pump, more speed, better handling, faster accelaration and more rewarding.
  • + 4
that's why all the pros use 4x bikes
  • + 2
Most of the pros learnt on a bmx, as kids. It's just the way it is, sure people can dispute it.. But I suspect they're the same people who would struggle round a pump track on 20inch. It's the same as football, if you learnt good skills with a tennis ball.. You usually had great skills with a football.
  • + 1
Adrien Loron the king of pumptrack !
  • + 1
 can't be better! thumps up
