BDS Fort William - MacLennan Photo Reel

May 13, 2014 at 14:31
by Alasdair MacLennan
Originally these images were only ever intended as an opportunity to test out some new gear in advance of the World Cup in a few weeks. However, seeing as Senior was pretty happy with how they turned out he thought it worthwhile putting them up for all to see. Therefore, apologies for the lack of captions but normal service will be resumed on that front from us in a few weeks when Junior actually pays attention to what's going on, rather than on eating cake in the cafe and sheltering under various Ez-Ups to avoid the torrential rain...

His stanchions be like this ---> Two-Face
  • + 10
 anti-racism approved forks
  • + 7
I thought his name was Robin...

Do I spot an Öhlins cartridge?
  • - 2
Yeah on the last photo, specialized demo 8
  • + 2
I thought forks cartridges were only for Rockshox ones
  • + 1
His team is running Öhlins front (internals) and rear TTX.

The Wallners are brothers - Mark and Robin. Both damn fast. Like to see Robin podium up one of these days.

For crying out loud!!! Its Niklas and Robin Wallner... Who the hell is Mark Wallner?
Ive ridden with both of them, or rather trying to keep up with them on smaller tracks around Stockholm and Åre.
  • + 2
Once again a media humor fail - Mark aka Niklas - the other Wallner. I always rooted for Robin way back in the day - he puts everything into his runs but has the worse damn luck at times! I'm, Niklas is a power house too. Balls to the Wallner Brothers!

This may be a dumb question, but the Athertons have their own racing team(1st Juniors) but they themselves are on Factory GT?
  • + 2
Seems they're putting some things in place for whenever they finally stop racing (hopefully many years from now) using the Atherton name as a brand, not unlike the Steve Peat Syndicate. Though they themselves ride for GT factory.
  • + 1
What a coincidence, gt factory racing has a rider called Vernon Taylor as well as te more well known Taylor Vernon?!
  • + 4
For a second there, I thought Matt Simmonds and his partner were doing extremely close "train" runs!
  • + 4
Wonder if brayton double locked his bike up when at the pits. Good to see him back on form
  • + 5
I thought he would have been recovering still after his crash at Cairns, stoked that he is back!

Hi everyone.... The syndicate team rules
  • + 1
 Yes it does. Ride hard.
  • + 3
Ben Cathro claims he is the fastest elite privateer.on his sick skills video
  • + 1
Which we now know isn't the case ;-)
  • + 1
Ignore me, I Got mixed up in the standings.. Only 3 places infront of Scotty Mears though, He might claim, fastest, but not by much Wink
  • + 2
massive well done to Scotty Mears you did us proud from the north east pity ya mate Danny H had a bad run though looks like he could of had it otherwise
  • + 3
Looks like Marc Beaumont had a different type of accident out on the course... Razz
  • + 2
It's Taylor Vernon, not Vernon Taylor. Rolleyes
  • + 1
Actually it is Vernon Taylor. There is Taylor Vernon on GT Factory racing along with the Athertons, and then there is Vernon Taylor on the Atherton Racing program.
  • + 1
Thats not what athertonracing's website says, Only lists Taylor Vernon, not a Vernon Taylor
  • + 2
most of them use moto brakes set up?
  • + 3
Most of them are Brits & Antipodean so they run front on the right and rear on the left.
  • + 1
always thought that this kind of set up was mostly used by left hands, but believe me that now is making big sense in my mind... never was a huge fun of moto, really s*** at...and i'm still s*** at downhill, but this will improve my skills big time, I CAN FEEL iT... will change lever right away to see what happend...
  • + 1
Hi folks. Why 99% of riders has front brakes for right hand? What reason for do this?
  • + 1
Why is Troy on an aluminium Demo?? o_0
  • + 2
I believe they're testing prototype geometry and it's much cheaper/easier to make one-offs in aluminium rather than going straight for carbon. Not 100% sure if that is why but that's what I've heard, and sounds reasonable.
  • + 2
It's a prototype as tomsc said. They have taken the demo up to 650b
  • + 1
Definitely one of my favorite photos!
  • + 2
 super sharp photos.
  • + 1
Noticed that most of them are using their right hand for the front break.
  • + 6
Its a British thing we all ride with the front brake lever on the right, same as moto.
  • + 5
We all do in UK.. The proper way!
  • + 2
Even Harley's have a front brake lever on the right ! It's the way it should be Wink also wonderful to see proper dh bikes goin hard !
  • + 2
 Evil sik chik pic.

 NICE PHOTO......

Pretty far off the pace for Ben Reid? 33rd....
  • + 3
He is now a full time team manager and doesn't race Worldcups. Not so far off, if you ask me for an occasional race.
  • + 0
 Where the f*** is RattyBoy ?!? ^^
  • + 2
