Petitioning to save Patcham Place Dirt Jumps

Feb 20, 2012 at 4:24
by Conor Lee-Falcon
Hey all,

Here at Patcham Place as some may already know, we have been having troubles with the local Council concerning the trails. We are currently in the process of getting the spot legalised, however, we need as many people as possible to sign this petition (which also serves as our Facebook infomation Page): http://www.facebook.com/patchamplace Although they have not given any clear indication as to how many people need to sign (Like) this petition, we reckon that if we can get at least 1000 people to they shall have no other option than to keep the spot as the majority of people have shown that they want to keep it. We will all be extremely grateful if anyone and everyone signs (Likes) this page as every little does help. If anyone else has a similar problem feel free to share and we will be more than happy to help Smile

Thanks very much and don’t forget to Like the petition! Salute

One thing that people should learn in life is to mind their own business and not to get involved in matters which do not concern them. If more people followed this mindset our society would truly be in a better state. The fact that orangesi86 has made contact with Conor in the hope of exacerbating a current predicament is pathetic. When I say "in the hope of exacerbating" I really mean having nothing to do in their dismal little lives but disrupt a child community project.
Conor never stated in his post any names nor did he mention any single person or group was to blame; it was a polite message to assist in the protection our hard work.
Unlike Orangesi86 he used abusive language when posting his comment, which really reflects upon his jealous uninformed nature.

As Orangesi86 deleted his comment and therefore many others putting him in his place, I shall re-post mine in the aim that if he or anybody else sharing his small-minded and ignorant opinions re-read this, they can understand the true purposes of this blog:

Simon, what are you on about? Clearly you suffer from some unresolved Oedipus Complex or some other similar derivative in order for for to want to constantly desire an argument. I never suggested that you had anything do do with this at all. Your nothing to this place any more - nor ever really were. We have bigger issues to be dealing with than worrying about some petty, all-talk bigot like you. Go ahead, quote my exact words where I implied you or that good-for-nothing "mate" of yours Charlie - or anybody else for that matter - had any input whatsoever. Regarding your statement "there will the a big problem that you,,,,boy wont be able to deal with", what exactly is meant by that? Are you throwing out mindless and childish empty threats once again? Your all talk. You need to learn to grow up; your a twenty-five year old man - act your age. Nobody cares about you or your stoned antics any more, we are all fed up. All that you seem to enjoy in your futile life is to complain about things and abuse kiddies, but for once you seem content at just riding now that you are up at Wild Park, why not keep it that way and stay there? You clearly have no interest in having any form of communication with us and we can assure you that feeling is mutual, so please, just stay away. Both Charles and I have both warned you about harassing us in the past, and you agreed to stop, so why break your word now? Just like Josh and Lewis have said, calm down and be constructive, sending empty and poorly worded threats only make you look ridiculous to on lookers and even to yourself in the days to come. And as for all the punctuation marks you add in, please for your own sake as well as ours, stop using so many; you look like your having an epileptic seizure. I have not pointed any fingers. All my best, Conor Lee-Falcon xxx

He got my comment deleted too, for the benefit of late-comers, I just said for him not to be a childish prick.

be constructive Si. Not threatening. that only makes you look foolish in the longrun and more so on the internet!

Just so people can understand what some of the argument above is about, a man named Simon, account named "orangesi86" commented this before later deleting it out of shame:

"coner why are we still getting the blame for that pile of shit that you lot protect and love so much?????? you or whoever dont want to start pointing fingers!!!!!!!!!! you dare blame charlie of compalaning to the council...or me or infact anybody i ride with,,,,,there will the a big problem that you,,,,boy wont be able to deal with. dont point fingers....si"

Simon clearly has no idea about what he is on about, or what this blog is on about either.

I don't ride at PP but the jumps look very well built and maintained, I mainly ride at the singletrack at Stanmer and some of the routes at Wild Park.

It may help in the petition to get an idea of the number of riders attending over the course of the week, their age and ability. The council should be supporting constructive, healthy things for young people. Statements from people explaining what the place means to them add personality to the campaign too. Maybe an agreed statement of conduct will give the council a sense of control but leave you to it?

We have a massive problem of obesity, anti social behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse. Brighton particularly is the drug death capital of the uk, 22% of men and 24% of women in the UK are obese and we've all seen West Street on a Friday night! It may help to quote some stats when comparing the positive act of riding with other negative behaviour; obesity, anti social behaviour and substance misuse are very, very expensive issues to manage.

Riding a bike is a great alternative to these and put in terms of the council's priorities (or rather budget) the people riding are doing something positive. Environmentally it's right next to a massive roundabout, petrol station and bridge so not really damaging a delicate habitat.

You've got some great photos on the FB page, it would make a good article for the Argus and help with exposure.

Keep it up, I may pop down some time...to watch Smile
