Video: The Best & Worst Traits of the 2023 Enduro Field Test Bikes
Was it just me, or did this crop of enduro bikes seem more compromised compared to enduro field tests in the past? Enduro by its nature, covers a broad range of riding and given bikes are going to gravitate toward a certain type of riding/terrain, but usually it seems like there is a bike or two that seem to do everything well. That didn't seem to be the case this time. This concept is also somewhat relative, I suspect I would love riding any of these bikes compared to my full-time hardtail. Let me know what you think.

Bike Check: Viral Optimist 160
Based only on appearance, I've always thought this was weak link on Pinion full suspension frames. I think Zerode bikes with the drive belt are very interesting but would never go this route until they come up with a better belt tension solution.

The Pinkbike Podcast: Why We Suck At Mountain Biking
I love these podcasts! All the speakers seem real and seem to recognize that mountain biking is supposed to be fun and don't take it too seriously. For some reason I really love the podcast medium with this group. On why I suck... I'm 50 years old and can't force myself to progress on to bigger drops. I ride a HT and regularly hit ~1 meter drops on the trail, but bigger, especially isolated drops just get in my head. I live in Indiana, so there's not too many huge natural features. I plan to keep pushing my skills for as long as my body allows. Keep up the great work on the podcast.

Must Watch: Adam Brayton in "The Ultimate Hammer"
Something about that edit feels raw and unpolished in the best way.

Video: Tom Isted's Record-Breaking 120ft Backflip at Darkfest
The amount of skill, commitment, and outright guts it takes to pull something like this off is as impressive as anything in all of sports. Casual fans see these highlights and are momentarily impressed, but I think many people fail to understand the years of training, progression, and hard work that it takes to reach anything near this level. JUST AMAZING!

Video: Inventive Riding with Max McCulloch in 'Just For Fun'
Just crazy skills! I suspect that last jump would be terrifying in person - blind landing and potentially very bad consequences if you don't clean it.

We Explain Why Cheap Drivetrains & Alloy Bikes Are Best | Pinkbike Magazine Show Ep 3
I have a 10 speed Deore drivetrain on a RM Growler that I rode through the Midwest US winter w/ lots of slop and mud and little cleaning and it's still almost flawless. I'm shocked how far drivetrains have come in the last 10 years. In the late '90s I upgraded to an XTR drlr. on a GT Zaskar and it constantly needed adjusting and had lots of skipping and chain suck. I planned to upgrade the Growler drivetrain, but now I think I'll stick with Deore and eventually put $$s toward better tires.
