Intense Factory Racing riders Luca Cometti, Dean Lucas, Jack Moir, and Nik Nestoroff came to @crankbrothers HQ in Laguna Beach for some preseason training on the world famous Telonics downhill trail.
i remember riding this trail on my santa cruz super light with 100mm front and rear travel, v-brakes, and 69 deg head angle back in like 1999. almost died. good times!
Year round riding on both moto and mtb. Plus the fact that a ton of motorcycle companies have their headquarters out here and their test tracks too. You can go to milestone before supercross season starts and see at least three, if not more, top ten pros practicing. It's heaven. Aside from the fact that the drivers are absolute shit.
Yeah seen better videos with the pros ripping that and showing more they did the same with Stairsteps a month or so back they didn't show enough to of that one either even tho they're short tracks but they got their sections where they can open up your eyeballs wide
I'm only a little over an hour from here. Everyone is always raving about Laguna for riding, but all the footage I have seen does not make me very eager. Definitely looking to give it a shot if I'm headed in that direction anyways!
Well that's a drive from up there in V-town you want to hit TUNNELS better I rather waste gas up to that then Telonix there's a few more trails on either side of that high way that's for sure but it's not a real long trails but they're windy really technical some more than the others but just depends who you know to get the full tour of those Hills but there's some good ones . Other than that I would rather drive up your way and hit Coldspring and Tunnels than Telonix any day but that's a 2-3 HR drive for us so you ride what you can when you can still fun fast short shuttle get a alot of runs in that's for sure
If you are only looking to shuttle trails in Laguna then your options are limited, if your up for a good pedal there are some incredible trails. Just start exploring.
It is a short fast, fun trail, you cant really go slow on it, on a good day you do 8 runs at least, there are a few more shuttle trails around, if I were you I would check it out if you got someone to show you around
Telonics is a very steep and fast trail, one of my favorite trails and best of all, its easy to shuttle. The video definitely doesn't do the trail justice.
Rode it back when I lived in SoCal, on a 1999 GT I-Drive with V brakes and 100mm fork.
I was going slow but DID ride down the first, knarly rock section and some others - was proud of myself!
I watched the Leaping Lizard DH race down that once and at least one guy was riding my same bike, GT I drive, totally stock, and absolutely smoking down that trail - didn't seem much slower than Lopes. Incredible - guess shows it's more the rider than bike sometimes.
Do you think the riders turned up in the morning and were like; 'dude we are all wearing the same kit, two people have to go home and change.... rock paper scissors?' ...
What do you mean illegal? I rode it a bunch this winter and there are no signs anywhere saying it is illegal. There are plenty of signs in Laguna informing you of closed trails.
Pretty lame vid, it didn't show any of the coolest parts of that trail.
If I remember correctly, the trail is legal but has no legal exit. The bottom crosses through private property. I guess you are expected to hike back up if you felt compelled to.
Actaully, the LCF has allowed the rads to keep this trail going...unofficially. hence no signs. So far, no one has connected with a hiker. Also, weve been doing a ton of water redirects, planting oaks, trash pick up. All other non labeled trails should not be stravad, and if u see brush hiding an entrance/exit, then walk in/out=good form and trail karma! So ya, when big teams come to play and create marketing material i hope they consider making a donation to the laguna canyon foundation.
It is technically illegal but so many people ride it that it would be pointless for the retarded rangers to try and close it. The illegal ones are by far the most fun, just gotta make sure you aren't spotted

I'm all for public access. A little trigger happy on the neg props. Show me any info that says this trail is a legal. Just saying.
